2002 tacoma hoods
hey guys, i have a 2002 tacoma. i have the trd supercharger, urd fuel kit, all that good stuff, but there is one thing this truck needs to make it complete. that is a nice hood. I like the hoods on the sport 4 runners, with the hood scoop. my dad has one with that hood, i know the hood doesnt fit, but i also have heard of guys just buying the hood scoop and cut and mold the scoop into a tacoma hood, has anyone out there dont it? i know it is a project but my dad and i do body work so thats not a issue. or does anyone know of any hoods that are made for the tacoma or hood/ molded scoops people have done? any info would be appriciated. thanks guys

Just a warning...
Desert fiberglass is very strong and serves a purpose but the fit and finish is mediocre at best. If you are handy with body work then you can make it fit pretty good in most cases but don't buy this stuff expecting it to fit like factory sheetmetal. Also the Glassworks hood scoop doesn't quite have the elegant lines of the factory 4runner scoop IMO.
As far as grafting a 4Runner scoop onto your hood. I know a Tundra owner that has done that. The end result is really nice but it is cost prohibitive for most people since you need to buy an entire hood just to hack it up for the scoop. And of course you would have to be very experienced with body work to do a good job.
I would try grafting one of these onto your hood, Universal Hood Scoop (Toyota Style) Scroll down the page until you get to the "Celica style hoodscoop" it is $136. You can get third party steel 4Runner scoop hoods for about $50 more, but this is much smaller and lighter so shipping would save hundreds.
