2002 SR5 fender flare pad issue (blacked out flares)
I have removed my flares from my 2002 SR5 and blacked them out. They were originally the metallic gray color. They are the fatter flares similar to the fat flares on teh Limiteds. Now I am trying to figure out how/if I can get new OEM black fender pads to replace the gray ones that came off of it. It will look kinda silly to put the gray ones back on.
Using toyodiy.com, I thought I had found the right part numbers for them, and i went ahead and ordered them, but when I received them, they are not even close to what I need. I used part numbers for a black 2000 Limited and apparently they are different. I can return these ones, but anyone know a way to find OEM part numbers for what I need? Are the fender flares the same across all 01-02 SR5s and Limiteds? Can I use part numbers for an 01 black SR5 or Limited and have them be correct? Anyone have a black 01 or 02 SR5 (or limited?) that I can borrow your VIN so I can look up the correct part numbers?--or if you don't want me with your VIN, maybe you could look them up for me on toyodiy.com...?
Any ideas?

Ok. Cool. I think... I found a VIN for a Black 2002 SR5 Sport on ebay but when I put the VIN in toyodiy.com, it lists the paint code as KA3, and the fender pads it appears to use are the dark gray. I was already thinking I may just use the dark gray pads but wanted black. But if the black uses dark gray, then that should work well between my black flares and metallic gray body color.
The ebay VIN for the black 2002 SR5 Sport is JT3GN86R020223716.

the sport fender flares -I think you are figuring out- are different than the Limited flares-which mesh up against the door side cladding. Sports have no cladding so they fit more flush to the doors.
What some of us refer to as SR5 flares are thinner and less flare-out. They may not use a liner (I think what you are calling the pad) at all and rub the body.
You may even want to just check the Bushwacker color (black) and order from them.
I have Bushwackers ready to install and if you want to compare black to black drop me a private message note with a real email address and I will shoot you some photos.
Bob 98SR5 has done a writeup -possibly on 4x4 wire I will try to find it again --and he actually used Tacoma padding or liner as I call it.

I think that is what my conclusion is, but also it is looking that that is not the case for the 01-02 SR5s and Limiteds. They are looking to be the same. In 01-02 the SR5s do have the full padding (and the fatter flares). Which appears to be the same as the padding/flares on the 01-02 limiteds, but for sure different than the previous years limiteds flares/pads. Does this sound off to anyone? Obviously this is leaving out the the ones that have the lower door cladding that is on [some? all?] of the 01-02 Limiteds. This also seems to only apply to the 4wd versions. Some of the 2wd SR5s did not have flares at all--I guess this could be the case for some 4wd SR5s as well, I just haven't seen any yet...
Earlier while searching around, I did find the write ups and info about the 96-00 SR5 flares not having the pad and the part numbers to use to get it. As stated, the 01-02 SR5s have the fat Limited style flares so that info does not apply.
So you have bushwacker flares, or bushwacker pads? As in are you using the OEM flare with bushwacker pad? If so, is the bushwacker pad come in just a roll or random lengths or?

Ferg-at first I just wasn't sure but just yesterday saw a 2002 SR5 sport edition. It did seem to have "limited" flares and silver/gray trim liners-to match the flare and body color. No body cladding obviously...
I have Bushwackers-not yet installed. They come with a roll of black pad to trim the inner edge out.
Never even thought about a 2 wheel drive version, we just don't see many of them out here.
sorry if I am actually mixing you up more than helping. That '02 sport (4wd) is on this forum and with his okay I am sure he may be able to give you more specific info.
I'll try to connect the two of you or find his photos if you like.
