2002 4Runner RS3200 Keyless Entry

I was whining in another thread about the interior lights not coming on when you unlock the doors with the keyless entry system on a 2002 4Runner (no alarm) when CLin9383 mentioned his 96 with an RS3000 did light up. I have been researching the alarm option for the 2002 but seem to be a little confused.

The keyless entry is standard on a 2002 4Runner (according to J.A.’s 2002 Specification PDF). The RS3200 and RS3200+ were dealer or port options. Do either of these alarms use the remote (fob) below?

The remote has a panic button on the back.

Also, which do you have (RS3200 or RS3200+) and do the interior lights come on when you disarm or arm the alarm?

I believe that you can set that with a scan tool to make the lights go on or not.

That is interesting. A friend was surprised when I told him that I didn’t think that was possible. He said that was how they did it on his wife’s new Jeep but I couldn’t find anything in the 2002 manuals to indicate you could do it that way.

My searching last night seems to indicate that the 3200 was for 2000-2002 trucks without the factory keyless entry and the 3200+ was for the same model years with keyless entry. If the 2002 came with KE standard, I assume that all of the 02’s that had an alarm used the 3200+.

Can anyone shed more light on this?

I installed the 3200+ in my 2002, but there is no programming options to turn on the interior lights. I've attached a link that shows the programming options.

The 2002 4runners came standard with keyless entry:

If the dealer installed the alarm it should be the rs3200+, if the alarm was installed at the factory, it may be something else.

If the alarm was factory installed, you would have a dash light like the one shown on page 13 of your owners manual.

Thanks for the info Skjos. I have also heard back from a couple of PMs that confirm your statement that the dealer alarm does not add this feature. The last thing I’m trying to check is if there is a setting that can be changed in the illumination control module that can be changed with a scan tool.

Right now it looks like the lighted ring around the ignition is the extent of the “illuminated entry” system.

Some 4Runners have "dome light supervision" and some do not. I found my alarm module and confirmed I have the RS3200+, and the interior lights do not come on until you open the door. (Mine is a 2000 SR5 with the keyless entry/alarm.) My neighbor has either a '99 or '00 SR5 and his 4Runner has dome light supervision with the factory alarm.

I would really like to figure this one out too...
