2001 Tacoma high mile question

I am currently looking at buying a 2001 Toyota Tacoma SR5 V6. Everything looks really good cosmetically. They said that the truck had the frame coated on the recall. But the truck has 179,000+ miles.. They are selling the truck for $9,000.

What are peoples opinions on high miles for a truck like this. They have me sold on everything else I am just hesitating because of the high miles.

Also, is there anything else I should be looking into more depth on a 2001 Tacoma??

Thanks

Hey there! Tacoma's hold their value, unfortunately. Even thou some have high miles. Honestly. Try and talk them down as much as possible. Tell them for the reason you need it cheaper is cause your going to want to replace timing chain and that whole ordeal. If you have a shop do it its gunna cost you a tad. but if you do it im pretty sure the cams are preloaded. so dont bumped them around when doing all of this. Beacuse then you have to do more work and its gunna be a pain.

If it was me id make sure that yota has the rear Factory E-locker. Otherwise its way overpriced to me. Im not sure if its going to because i think TRD models have them. Unless you dont care about having a locker then. But i mean that like going to Wendy's for a salad...

Ask them about the front end, if its ever been rebuilt. Thats a decent amount of miles depending on if it was on a dirt road most its life or not. but they are pretty tuff should be good.

Too high. 9 yrs ago I got my 4RNR for lower with only 145k mileage. Minus a spare tire. Minus the $200 sparkplug thread repair on one cyl. And without a functioning trailer hitch light wiring (fixed). Bought from an independent car salesman in PA.

Negotiate or hope for a better deal elsewhere...
