2000 4runner with frame patches
Went and looked at a 2000 4runner. It turned out to be a sport edition with the rear locker. The seller had no idea. Truck was clean for a PA truck some rust underneath not to bad. Then I saw the frame patch. The patch ran about 24 inches on the inner frame rail passenger side to the rear suspension arm. Just the side of the frame was patched. I could not see the other side because of the gas tank. It looks like a decent weld but my gut tells me to stay way. Im just looking for opinions here. What do yall think stay away? Truck has 150,000 and was well taken care of. I could probably get it for around $4,000

From: I live in New Tripoli Pa out in the woods
It is a 15 year old PA vehicle.
How do the brake and fuel lines look??
I am sure it will need more work .
I am sure you could find the same thing south of I 10 for about $8,000.00
If you don`t want to buy it If it is not gone already it will be soon.
For the price you quoted it would be titled in my name already!!!

not sure but i believe there was a frame recall on 2000'ish 4Runners
too bad the rust has already set in on the frame repair,
I would go over the rest of that truck with a fine tooth comb, but after living in NY for 6 years, a rusty frame is just something you are gonna have to deal with...

yeah I mean everything else on the truck seems to be ok. Brake and fuel lines are good no major rust anywhere else. Although it is hard to look at the frame where the gas tank is. Yeah I wish the frame recall was on these 4runners. I would pick this thing up and go get a new frame. I got a project in the garage already maybe I will just be patient until I find a cleaner truck. Thanks for the input

If everything works on it and it has been well maintained, it would come down to how good is your gut........ I would look at it again to be sure and offer him/her $3500 and see what happens. I just repaired my frame right where the frame and the rear LCA meet on the exhaust side and the other side was as fine as can be in Ontario, Canada. Also, the area that was reinforced looked worse than it actually was once the surface rust was grounded off. I would be more concerned with the engine, tranny or locker not engaging, etc.
Just my opinion.
Just my opinion.
