I have 205,000 miles (330,000 kms) on my '96 4runner (3.4l). Still running strong. I'm aiming for 500,000 kms before rebuild. Perhaps that is a little optimistic, but we'll see.

man, i was stoked when my 98 4runner hit 200k miles on our way to VA earlier in the month, and then I get here and see that i still have at least 100k miles to go before i'm considered in the "in" crowd. LOL! Biggest repairs to date: Exhaust manifold, Cat converter, and shift solenoid- not all at one time!

232k... starting to have issues... really weird noise coming from the right bank, sounds like FPR (fuel pressure regulator) on the fuel rail, no noises elsewhere in engine.
232k is a good life for an engine, especially mine...lmao... maintenance maintenance maintenance.... keep up with maintenance , thats the only reson t lasted sooo laong... next 4runner i buy will again be 2nd gen.....but i think i will run the vin first and see that the recalls have NOT been done...lol.. new gaskets anyone.olo

Now at 337K+, all I have done to it is change the timing chain and stuff and change the oil about once a year. I have a 98 5vz that the intake started leaking @ 208k and burned hole in the top of #2 piston, so it got a freshing up from the bottom up and is @ 1k miles and going stronger than ever.

I'm upto 240K miles now just did a major tune up and replaced the front struts rear shocks and springs with OME. Gave it a nice little rake looks much better and rides nice. Next is front and rear brakes then its valve cover gaskets. Stereo soon after that. Always something but hey it's fun. I'm thinking about doing the paint next year assuming all else is going strong.

my 1998 taco 4x4 5VZFE is around 230k these days on stock parts. I've been using Valvoline maxlife since it was @ 100k with k&n filter and it still runs great! It's actually pretty amazing that it's been so good to me because when I was going to high school, I couldn't afford to do the big-ticket maint items.. Then in college I still couldn't afford it! now though I'm on steadier ground so I think I'll show it some much deserved TLC. Only things that have crapped out was the a/c pump, spark plugs, p/s pump, clutch and a handfull of msc. body parts. Not bad for a truck that has taught 3 drivers to drive stick, survived countless rookie off-road endeavors in my younger years, hit two large deer head on (of which the radiator and condensor survived both times, i was floored) and counless other animals and has been a daily driver for two people for 8 years. My 2002 taco is just a baby at 120k, but it'll be there eventually; hopfully with less wildlife encounters!
