I used a compressor one time when changing struts in my GT4. First time for my brother and I to do it. If you are careful and use some common sense it goes pretty easy. An air compressor is your best friend to a air gun \ wrench to tighten\loosen it.
We were careful and just didn't rush anything plus double check everything before we tightened them down. It's worth doing it yourself if that $250 place is the only place who you can do it.
Now I'm hoping to get a lift from Steve at SS soon and I was going to have him install them for the $150 price tag (new top caps and the install) for several reasons... For me to rent the compressor, go over to my Brother in laws for his air compressor and tools, the time to do it would cost me more in $$$ and my time then just having him do it and I KNOW it's done right. Then all I have to do is drop mine out, stick his in and I'm done...

That's spreading everywhere... Even up here. Just try to find a place where you can have real "Freedom" these days to go camping....
You're in Northern CA. Wasn't there just a damn or two scheduled to be removed to help salmon get to their old spawning grounds down there?

Do it yourself! If you are scared just use 2 compressors and do your research first...You will save some cash and be smarter at the same time...sounds miraculous, doesnt it?

I would NEVER let "schlep-boys" work on ANY vehicle I own......its been just amazing what I have seen walking by the work bays to go in the store for some parts......wow!
I ended buying a decent set of spring compressors from Harbor Freight when I needed some, they came with safety chains also, which is nice.
I showed them to a few mechanic friends of mine and they said they seemed to be of good quality.
I have used them a few times and loaned them out quite a few times, they are holding up nicely and I still like them.

^^ I agree, but if you're still worried. Take it to any shop but pepies.
Oh, Sloan and if you think those salmons are big, look up the halibut they catch in AK. My cousin lives out there. I went to visit him last May. I couldn't believe it. The wildlife out there is amazing. Truly a beautiful place to see.
