For that price, check to make sure it isn't stolen!

If it isn't, it's a no brainer... buy it.

i would inspect with a keen eye and i deff would run the VIN# to see what you get... could have tranny issues, could have motor issues or both.. or maybe you are one of the lucky few who gets a great truck for cheap bc the owners needed $$ asap or whatever... that would rock!

They probably would ask for a deposit and then you never hear from them again. I saw a 2003 Honda S2000 on Craigslist for $10k. I emailed him saying why so cheap this thing is worth $18k. He never replied back lol.

Yeah, obvious scam. Seems like $3500 is the target price, too. There were 2 postings of the same ad JUST THIS MORNING of a 2001 Celica GT for $3500. I do absolutely hate those scammers, but it is just beyond me that people are STILL falling for those scams.

To be honest, when I first started sold something on craigslist, I got those e-mails that say "I will have my shipping company come pick it up", and "Can I send you a cashiers check?". I believed it, but I knew it was too good to be true when our conversation turned from "I really want cash for this item" which I said and he replies "I hate to carry cash, and I have no paypal account"... Then I figured he was a scammer.

I heard of once a brilliant scam from people in Mexico. This kid goes down to Mexico for spring break. He tells his mom he is going for a few days, and can't call her down there because the minutes will rack up like no other.

Anyways, his mom gets a call from a "wannabe" doctors station in Mexico saying that her son was in serious condition and we need to airlift him in a helicopter to a better hostpital. He has no money, and the airlift will cost $3,000! If you wire the money to us immediately we can save his life.

She wires the money, they say they are sending him off. A day or 2 later, his mom gets a call from his son saying he had a great time and is on his way home. He had no idea they had just scammed his mom...

They asked me to send money via Western Union and they will have the 4runner shipped to my door in 3 days and no charge since his family works for a truck shipping company...So i asked him can i call him to talk about the deal and he said he has no phone it must be done through email only. If that not a scam then i really don't know what would be. But if it is to good to be true then it mostly is not true.

I wasn't saying that we weren't all at one time victims (or near victims) of a scam. I think most of us have been there. Back in 2000, I got scammed out of $250 for some wheels. He said he didn't take checks, but only money orders. This was the first time for me doing business over the internet. LIke a fool, I sent the money order. Never heard from him again. I was pissed, but it was a good lesson learned. My point is that now-a-days, the "scammer" awareness is very wide spread. I don't know how people that are familiar enough to shop on craigslist, can't spot an obvious scam a mile away. I will say that scammers are getting more and more sneaky, and perhaps I will fall to another scam one day, but ads like the one above with 20 red flags around it.....I mean, c'mon.....

Haha that Tacoma is the oldest scam in the book.

Remember, if its too good to be true, it is!

There are 10-15 posts a DAY here in WA on craigslist for similar vehicles, and thats just for toyotas!

Anytime you see a vehicle like that, post it in our fraudulent vehicle listings section. I had Corey create it for this very reason. Then we can all flag it, and poof its gone.

yep, i flag 5 or 6 of these a day on my local craigslist. you can always spot them because they have pictures of really nice cars and a lot of the time they will have things like palm trees or cacti in the background (definitely not from iowa!) and also you can tell they aren't local since the grass is green and not covered in snow right now! the price is a dead give away, lots around here are $2600 or $2604 or something. never a phone number either. automatic flag from me.

punks!

We had a 1999 toyota supra turbo, 6spd, perfect shape "for sale" out here on craigslist for 7300 the other day. I just laugh to myself as I flag crap like that.
