1999 2.7 Taco fuel shuts off after 2k rpm
I am having a major fuel problem with my truck and I am not sure what it is. It starts and idles perfect. The truck is a 2.7L 5 speed with 240,000 miles. It will rev to about 3K or a little above in first gear, then shuts off like it has run out of gas. It does the same in 2nd gear but at 2K rpm, and in each sequential gear after that the rpm gets lower when it cuts out.
I have replaced the fuel filter and the fuel pump and it fixed nothing.
I have recently within the last 3000 miles clean the throttle body and the MAF, also installed new plugs and wires, and 2 new o2 sensors.
I ran the truck with the TPS unplugged with the suggestion that it would go away if the TPS was bad, but it made no difference.
I am looking for suggestions on where to turn next. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also when I cleaned the MAF I used the aerosol spray from Autozone. I have read about some people using soapy water and a brush, should this be done?
I am thinking about the fuel pressure regulator next but I dont want to waste any more time and money fixing the wrong things.

I would think that the lower rpm with each sequential gear would just be because the engine us having to work harder as you go up and are fighting more resistance. Codes would be helpful. Did the problems start before of after you did all the cleaning and parts replacing?

What do the RPMs do when you're not in gear? Does it ever cut out if you're in neutral holding it at like 3000 RPM?
How did the gas tank look when you replaced the pump? Rusty or chunks floating around?
You're not supposed to touch the wires of the MAF with anything. Just lightly spray elec. cleaner on it and let it dry.

I used MAF cleaner on it so I think it is ok.
Most of the parts and MAF and throttle body cleaning were done about 2 months before the problem started.
I replaced the pump yesterday and the inside of the tank looked great.
I dont have a CEL but I will check for codes later.
