1998 4runner PVC Valve Replacement

Hello,

Wonder if any experts out there could help me with locating where the PVC valve is on my 1998 4runner? Do you have a pic?

My 4runner has about 95k miles on it and someone told me I needed to replace this valve. Is this correct? What exactly does this valve do?

Thanks. Really appreciate you taking your time and sharing your expertise.

That would be a PCV Positive Crankcase Ventilation Valve!!! It is on the Valve cover with a hose running out of it to the intake. It stops back flow in to the engine and makes it so the Vacuum will draw air through the engine and thus pulling any fumes or moisture with it.
It is pulled out of it's grommet by hand and cleaned then put back or replaced. there is a piece inside of it that will move up and down up for flow and down to stop flow. Use a solvent and spray it in there shake repeat till clean!
