1997 4runner 2.7L 4 cyl 2wd

So I have a 1997 2.7L Automatic 4 cylinder 2wd. I am not very mechanically inclined however have been able to determine that either my tranny or my torque converter have gone out and I am just going to replace them both at once. My problem is that I am having a hard time finding a tranny that is from a 4cylinder 2.7 L 2wd. So I started browsing through the toyota wiki page and it says that the tranmission put into mine is a A340F. My question is is the transmission specific to the motor? For example will the tranny that has the same model # (A340F) from a 99 4wd 6 cylinder work fine I only ask because I have searched craigslist everywhere within a 5 hour drive and cannot find a tranny that matches up perfect with my engine however I have found many that are A340F http://skagit.craigslist.org/pts/3466411914.html.
Any advice is appreciated

I take it from you Craigslist link that you're in the Skagit area of Washington State. Here's a link to transmissions for your 4Runner near you:

Looks like there are a few within a couple hundred miles.
