as for a good swap idea, why not look into a supra motors? cheap, reliable, and can be built for hundreds of horsepower

Sorry to hear about all of the ill will towards them. I' have been dealing with them for years and have never gotten the wrong part. I got a new engine from them under warrenty with no problem at all.....one call and I had a new engine in days.

I'll admit that they know nothing about Toyota and Lexus parts.....and you have to watch the prices on some things. But none of those imported engines come with warrenties....and again, I had no problem getting a new engine. I even kept the one the blew.

best ones are the '82-85 5MGE(2.8l) and the '86-up 7MGE(3.0l) and 7MGTE(turbo). there's also the 6MGE which is usually a JDM import engine, about the same as a 7MGE.

the only real issues with these motors is stuffing them into the engine bay since they're a bit long, being a straight six. however, it's manageable if you own an '84-up truck or 4runner, you can use electric fans for extra clearance

Working on boat right now ... maybe a 22r/re will surface while I'm not looking. Changed out head and gasket (1967 Hydroswift, 225 V-6).
