15 x 7 Wheels
Ok. I've got conflicting info here. One person tells me that the biggest tire I can put on a 15 x 7 wheel is 30x9.5. Another tells me 31x10.5 is the biggest. Who's right here? I don't want to get something I shouldn't for my stock wheels. Please advise...Thanks!!

i believe 31x10.5 is the biggest you can comfortably fit without any funky abnormal wear on the tires.........
but i have seen guys squeeze 32x11.5's on them before, but i wouldnt recommend it because they might wear out pematurely in the middle.

Toyota supplied from the factory 31 x 10.5 tires on the stock 15x7 rims. This is the size that I have successfully run for the past 12.5 years on my 91 Runner.
You can put 32x11.5 on the 15x7 rims but then you run the potential for rub problems (most running those size tires lift their trucks).
Another important thing to consider is that the taller the tire that you run the more you change the drive ratios and thus the performance of your truck. Your truck came with specific gears from the factory and changing tire diameter changes how the power is transfered from the motor/transmission through the differential(s) to your tires and then to the road. If your truck came with 235's, and you go to the taller 31" tire, expect your acceleration to suffer. Your speedometer will also be off by about 10% too.

So what else needs to be done to my 4Runner to step up to the 31X10.5 tires? It only came with 225/75 tires. I don't want to run into any problems by getting the bigger tires.

You'll be ok...mine came with 225's and then the dealer that I got it from replaced the tires with 31's and had no problems.

I have a total of about 95K miles on 2 sets of 32x11.5's on factory 15x7's (BFG AT's). I've taken the plunge on 15x8's and still trying to settle on a tire - probably GY MTR's

It's a 2002 SR5 4Runner 4X4. It's completely stock aside from the Magnaflow muffler, Bushwacker OEM fender flares, Weathertech rain guards & chrome factory running boards. The small tires just gotta go.

You'll need some type of image editing software (MS Paint, photoshop, etc.). Either reduce the dimensions, or reduce the image quality.

I got your e-mail... did you want me to post the pic, or is the attachment you posted fine? The pic I have is the same angle, but it is a bit sharper (not as blurry).

I run 32x11.5x15s on 15x7 wheels. It works for me quite nicely. The narrower the wheel is, the harder it is to pop the tire off the wheel at low pressure when wheeling. It also makes it harder to scratch the wheels on rocks. However I would not put 33x12.5s on them. That's too wide.
Are you sure those are 15x7s? 2002s with 15" wheels are not common. Most have 16s because of bigger brakes.

I'm sure about the 15x7 wheels. My 4Runner was a bare bones stock SR5. From what I gather, 31x10.5 is the largest tire I'm going to put on. I don't want to cause any problems by running any bigger tires than that.
