140k 98 4Runner opinions?

Hey guys I'm right at 140k miles with my 98 4runner sr5 4x4. I have read all of the info on here via the search function about transmission fluid changes. I just checked my fluid and it is #1, not black, #2, not burnt smelling, #3, sort of a cherry red/lighter brown color, #4, I don't detect any metal flakes, etc, and #5, my A/T transmission seems to function very good, no noticeable slipping, jerking, etc. I assume getting a transmission flush/synthetic replacement fluid, seems like a good idea here considering the posiitive signs noted above. Thanks for your opinions and help!

If it has not been changed or you don't know when it was, then get it flushed soon. Your transmission will thank you.

It all depends...

On how long you want it to last....

A couple of considerations are how hard the trans has been flogged over it's lifetime. Hot climate? Towing? Stop and go commute?

I'd say with that milage to flush....

At the minimum, drain a little and throw in some Lucas Trans. Fix....
