Hey Rob,
Can you talk some of the big wigs into importing some turbo diesels? I'm sure you could find a market over here for some of those things.

Except I have yet to be impressed with a nissan... Their interiors are on par with oh... Subaru.

Back OT, Anyone know where some desecnt pics are online? I have yet to see anything... and that edmunds one is obviously nothing like the real thing.

c'mon guys-

you all know that a 4.5L has existed for a while...(landcruiser?? ring any bells??). Not to say that the 4.7 from the sequoia, tundra and 4th gen runner could be an option, but i don't see a reason why the 4.5L couldn't be as well. Just my .2 cents...and for who ever posted "353" in regards to the 5.6L block being spoken about, he was referring to size with the "350" cubic dimension, not horsepower. Peace.

Billy

Not likely...

The 4.5 out of the Cruiser is a straight-6 based on the F/2F platform, which was based on the old GM6's of the early 60's. It weighs much more than a v8 and is way too long to fit into the engine compartment of a taco - or even a Tundra. And it's been out of production for a number of years.

Toyota usally keeps things real quiet up until the last minute, with the 4th Gen 4Runner their was some photos that looked like a 4Runner with a Rav4 nose, then shortly after that actual pics came out that were released from Toyota but by then 4Runners where hitting dealer lots.

Same thing with Lexus, when you do actual find pics the cars in their new form are shopping up at dealers, the new GS has been rumors floating around forever and the same pic of what the car might look like, by the time actual pics show up you can see it in person

They do a good job of stayin quiet,

The next new Toyota truck engine should be shown at the NAIAS in Detroit beginning in two weeks. It'll occupy the bay of the new Texas-built Super Duty full-size (really full size this time) and be a V-10. I've heard displacement estimates from 5.4L to 5.9L. The larger estimate makes more sense from a tooling standpoint (add two more holes to the 2UZ 4.7L V-8).

I think we'll need to get new Taco info from prowling the internet for leads. Rob is right, it would violate his confidentiality agreement to post data or photos that could slow current Taco sales and would be a quick way out the back door, escorted by security. Toyota watches this (and many other) boards. Just ask Corey and Chris!

i love japanese design normally but the latest wave of flat sided cars and trucks are boring
I hope they dont screw up the interior either.
eg: one big gauge-8" with every other gauge inside it.
I really am not with the" Jetsons" styling of today's interiors.
We are not that sophisticated, we haven't even been to the moon yet

I sure hope that they come out with a bigger motor than that 4.7 for their full size trucks. My dad wants a Sequoia and my wife wants a Tundra double cab. But they may need to get a Nissan if Toyota doesn't get a more powerful engine soon!!

Nissan's interior qualilty is a lot better than most people think on this site, after all it is made in Japan.

My friend has a 350Z and I think the interior looks really cheap, especially when compared to it's luxury cousin the G-35 coupe. I've driven both and the G-35 coupe is a much better all around car. When it comes to performance, the 350Z has it simply due to less weight. The 7hp difference isn't much to be felt, but the weight is. Oh yeah the G-35 coupe also handles better due to a longer wheel base, as well as riding better.

Ok, I'm done with Nissans (anybody want to buy my 240SX? )
