04 Tacoma 12V outlets

Has anyone attempted to make on or both of the 12v utility plugs on the console "hot" all the time rather than just when the key is on? It's killing my cell phone being turned on and off each stop.

Small rant: And, what's going on with the OEM clock location. I would like to find the Toyota engineer responsible for its location and beat him senseless with a wet noodle. What a great idea to hide the clock behind the steering wheel!

Both of those design flaws are very annoying... I can't tell you how many times i've needed to leave my phone charging in the truck and couldn't... not to mention the clock almost causing several accidents. If you figure out how to fix the plugs let me know.

Under the hood there's a fusebox, inside is a relay that controls the power outlets. Pull the relay and run a jumper wire, now it's full time hot!

There should be a write-up somewhere on this......BTW the Taco and 4Runners power outlet mods are the same.

Exclamation Tried this on a 4th gen 4runner?

I was looking at the mod for my 4th gen 4runner and I noticed in the owners manual that the relay in the engine compartment also controls alll the interior lights. Has anyone done this mod on a 04? I'm a little hesitant to try this.

Upon further review, I found I was looking at the fuses not the relays, but I look at the relays and I can't find a relay in the engine compartment box that controls the power outlets. The 4th gen doesn't look like the box in the write-up. Is there another location for relays?
