04 info from Toyota...

If you already know this, I am sorry to repeat but I learned yesterday that Toyota no longer make 4th gen runners with the the controversial grey plastic side cladding.

As of now, all 4Runners off the line have the "appearance package" as standard.

I did confirm that I can now get an '04 V8 Sport with color keyed over fenders and bumpers that look like the Limited.

Just to clerify...

They will still come with all the plastic trim, but now it will be color coded, rather than 2-tone?

From what I was told, all fenders will also now be smooth, the notched look of the SR5 and Sport will go away.

So, all will be mono color rather than two tone...

Just means the look and feel of the 4runners will be like the limiteds

Also another note, the green and red colors will be dropped too.

I guess I am one of the few who liked the notched grey plastic flares. Just makes more sence for off-road use, no paint chips. I'm sure that what toyota was thinking also.

I bought mine about a month ago with color coded plastic thingy's. I was manufactured on May 03, 2003.
It's a 2003 Sport Edition. I happen to like the grey though!

the thing that gets me about toyota trucks nowadays is that you can't even get one in blue anymore!

it'd be nice for them to bring back the bright colors they once were, like yellow, orange, and red -- none of this downtoned crap!

It would have been cool it you could get a truck with full body cladding, you could wash and dry it in minutes

No offense to yall 'yota owners but when the 4th gen 4runners debut I thought to myself did all of Toyota's designers jump ship?
Furthermore did Toyota hire the same designers from GM that designed the Pontiac models (lotsa lotsa plastic; remember the Aztec?)? I'll admit the front end looks kick ass especially w/ the(sigh...again non-functional) hood scoop but the new 'runners now look it has the same amount of plastic as the Chevy Avalanche. The new fender trim does nothing in terms of covering aftermarket wider, taller wheels. Just an opinion fellas.

Yours truly, proud Toyota owner
