03 SR5 Security
According to the owners manual the standard/stock security system should arm and go off after 30 seconds. The manual advises to test the system by opening all the windows, setting the alarm and then wait a full 30 seconds or until the light on the dashboard starts to blink. I tested mine today and it did not go off after reaching inside and manually unlocking the door. Has anyone else had this happen on the SR5 model.

stock security? are you talking about the toyota security system that they install at the dealership? the VIP system or something like that?
if it is, can't help ya as I don't have an alarm installed..
my sr5 just came w/ the door lock/unlock remote.. that's all. figure if someone wants to steal the 4runner they would anyway

The manual is a bit misleading there. The SR5 does not have a stock security system like an audible alarm, just the engine immobilzer which is in the key. I read the manual and tried the same thing, duh, it's only in the limited unless you specially ordered the system. I saw on some site they were selling the stock alarm for the 03, but like Good Times said, probably not worth it in the long run.
