03 runner in the shop #2

A few days ago, I started hearing what sounded like some sort of bearings going out up front on the engine. I wiggled the belt tensioner and it was sloppy! I took it to the stealership today and they found that 2 belt tensioners had their bearings go bad! I'm a little concerned with the quality of the V6. This is the second time since I've owned it that it has been in the shop for a relatively major problem. The first time my VSC turned off and it sputtered when stopped. All they did was reset it though. This time, it's down for the weekend so parts can be special ordered. I should have got the V8. Anyone else having any other problems?

I think that was 1 of the voluntary recalls on the V6, do a search here or t4r.org and the VSC could have happened on a V8.

Adam,
I think that was the drivebelt tensioner TSB. How many miles on your truck and what does it sound like specifically?

I think if you search "squeaky belt" or "belt tensioner fix" , etc you will get some hits.

and Edge is right, the VSC thing could happen to any 4Runner. I think a V8 owner and 3rd gen owner complained about that in the past.
