'03 4-Runner Back Window & Brakes V8 LTD

Quick question... I cannot get the back window to work from the auto switch on the dashboard or via the key remote. I'm able to open the back window only with the key in the back door. All suggestions are welcomed.

Also, I noticed that I need to step pretty hard on the brakes and it almost seems like it's time for a brake job (ony 15,000 miles on the runner). In the manual it says that there are two systems the operate the brakes and if one goes it may make braking more difficult. Has anyone run into this and if so what helped fix it?? I'm not showing any warning lights. I want to be sure before I take it in to the dreaded dealer without any info. Thanks in advance for all help and suggestions.

Take it into the dealer. IT could be that the receiver for the window is not working at all.

Can't comment on the brake issue as I have approx 36k now still on my stock stuff. You might want to ask the dealer while it's there for the window issue.

GOod luck

As far as the window is concerned, I don't have a clue... But I do about the brakes. Let me guess, you've just about NEVER used the emergency brake? Put it in reverse and put pressure on the emergency brake several times. You should feel it get tighter. You have to use the e-brake for the rear drums to adjust - unless of course the 4th gens have 4 wheel disc brakes... Hopefully that will fix your braking issues... It did mine.

4th gens are 4 wheel disc. Could be a proportioning valve or something within the ABS system. Almost impossible to be the pads at 15K so everything else should be covered under warranty.

I believe that the 4th gen brakes are naturally soft, but always work well.

About the window: Have you checked the safety lock switch on your driver's door for the windows? I've hit that many a times and wondered why the windows weren't working....

It's under warranty... Take it into the dealer. I had some disc vibration in my front breaks and the dealer did it for free under warranty @ 23k mi.
They will fix the window free too.

Lance, glad to see someone likes to drive as much as me... People are giving me s@&t because I just hit 27k w/ 17mo on my ride. I mean, it is meant to be driven, jeez.

I agree w/ ya 110%!! These things are automobiles... They take us places, that's why we get em. Only if they understood that true meaning The crazy thing is that I'm averaging just about 25k per year and I only work 8 miles away!!!!! Don't ask me where the rest of the miles go... I just gotta say I love to drive my 4runner and it sure looks like you do too!!
