02 tacoma suspension questions

My buddy has an 02 tacoma, 2wd prerunner.

his suspension is SOFT. so soft that going over a speed bump at an angle will leave the truck swaying for about 3 seconds. i don't know much about tacomas, or suspensions for that matter, but does anybody else have this same problem? if so what did you do to fix it?

we were thinking of some stiffer KYB shocks, but is there a cheaper alternative?

How many miles are on the truck? Shocks could be blown

Compress your front and rear shocks by pressing down on the bed and front end as much as you can then release it. If the truck bounces up and down alot, the shocks are blown. The shocks should be absorbing all the the bouncing motion from the springs if they are in good shape still

generally the tacomas "float" more with the stock suspension compared to the 4runners - at least my 99 + 03 tacomas did. Even replacing the stock suspension with new shocks is better, but switching out to some coilover like sway a ways, donahoes or something like those will make em ride like a dream. Remember - its only money.
