02 4R Idle RPM?
Hey guys - gotta question....
I just had to replace my battery (10 years on the stocker!!!!!!) and when I put the new battery in, it seems like it is idling a bit lower than before. When warmed up, idle in N is ~700rpm --- in gear, its ~500-550rpm. I know the ECU has to relearn, but I've run it a bit and it still seems on the low side of where it should be.
Anyone know what the 3.4 is supposed to idle at, or have any idea how long it takes the ECU to reset?
Thanks!
Jim

My ECU usually takes about 2-3 days to readjust. Then it's back to 700-750RPM idle.
My 96 runner will stall everytime it tries to idle for the first couple trips I take after reconnecting the battery.

Yep - thats what it took - after ~3-4 drives, its back to idling ~800 in P/N and ~650-700 in gear. It had me a little worried there thinking there might have been something else that killed the battery other than the fact that it was 10 yrs old.
On a side note, its surprising how much better it runs with a strong battery - I haven't been able to figure out why, but it just seems "better" now. Who would have thought?
