'01 Limited w/ ARB Sahara

First, thank you everyone for all your posts and suggestions. I've referenced this site 100s of times for new ideas, repairs, and just to check out the latest rigs.
Here is my 2001 4runner Limited w/ 86k. This is the 5th 4runner in our family in the last 14 years; we are hooked. My previous 4runner was a 2000 Limited w/ factory lockers, but I sold it @ 160k miles, after finding my current truck. I'll get better pictures, but it was bitterly cold tonight!

The ARB Sahara painted to match

When installing the fog light inserts, I noticed there were no spacers to hold the inserts in place. In other words, the inserts were not flush with the back of the bumper, but protruded about 1/4", making it imposible to secure them w/o some modification.
Notice the protrusion in the bottom right hand corner

I took some round plastic spacers (previously O shaped), and cut a small portion out (now C shaped) and pushed them in place.

Here is the bumper and bracket removed, before trimming the edges of the frame. After trimming I made sure to put some rustoleum on the newly exposed metal (shame toyota did not give 4runner owners rust-rebates)

Shot w/ the crumple-zone ready, air bag compliant mounting arms, and the most comfortable shop stool/creeper

And the 'finished' product! The "fog lights" are Navigator Cyber White Series from Walmart for $23 (I needed something in there until I find more suitable fog lights, although the output of these 55w bulbs is tremendous, and I was not willing to pay $325 for the IPF fog light kit)

I know, something has to be done with the Gold Emblems, thinking about doing the Black Pearl mod.

I have not placed the spacers between the bumper and the lights yet. It needs to be trimmed to fit properly, and I am thinking of putting rubber gasket material there first. As you see the gap is pretty huge!

I am also waiting for a pair of Hella ff1000, I found a kit on ebay for $136.
If anyone has any suggestions let me know, I pumped to be up here!
Anyone interested in the factory bumper, fog lights, and indicators???

that is a beautiful truck to go along with a nice bumper..... I have a 2000 ltd desert dune and silver as well. I just love it at 186000 km, but spindle bearing is going on it, that's my next project

Looks good. Are you going to color key the grill?

I don't think I will because the chrome grill matches the chrome front tube (dont know what else to call it) and seems to integrate it into the truck; otherwise, I feel that the tube just sticks out too much. I do like how http://4rnr.net/arb/arb-10.jpg matched the grill to the truck and this is how mine would look (thanks 02 Limited) http://i41.tinypic.com/24dopqt.jpg I am considering black pearl emblems, b/c the gold just it too many colors to look at. Also, I know those blue lamps will be hell (GLARE) when there is fog/snow so I am looking for a more suitable replacement (amber) any suggestions?
I know many run Hella 500s, but those are too large to fit, I am working with 4.25" diameter.

Looks good! My next mod will be an ARB Sahara if I can get my hands on one. Just a suggestion - I say you go with a color matched grille, it sies Limited color schemes together well, since the bar on the ARB has more of a stainless steel appearance rather than chrome and they clash a bit when looking at it from the front, IMO. For the fogs, try looking for a clear fog light housing and throw in a set of Hella Yellowstars or try searching for a brand called Nokya, they make some good yellow bulbs as well. I run Nokya yellow H3's in my Hella 500's (which have amber glass) and the light output in poor driving conditions is incredible. Do you have any plans for a lift and/or larger tires?

That looks awesome!! Wish I had one on mine. The only thing I'm kinda skeptical about is yall didn't leave much room for play between the bumper and the body. Aside from that, it looks great!

http://www.extremegearoffroad.com/ this is where I found the bumper; I think they have 5 left (everywhere else I tried said ARB has discontinued the sale to the US)
Thanks for the advice w/ the Nokya's I'll look around for some and put them into the ff1000s that should be here next week.
As for lift/tires, I doubt it (at least for now) this is a daily driver, and the bumper was a safety precaution for deer; I had an ARB on a '95 pathfinder a few years back and it saved me a couple of grand worth of shop work.

First off it looks good, it does BUT, imho it does not line up well at all from any angle that I can see in the pics. Sticks out past the flares width and legth wise, i think it sits too high and too far out. Yes, its all minor, some can live with it and some can't. If you actually did hit something with it now it would prolly do more damage to your truck. I'm no expert though. And, again, this is just my opinion but the blue tint light look really cheap and ricer like. The plate is cool, would look better if the whole truck was E code speced....

100% agree about the riced out Lights (Walmart Rocks!) I do need something to hold me over until I find a better set.
As far as spacing, I expected it to stick out on the sides, but I guess I was over zealous when pushing it up as close to the truck as possible. I checked out your 4runner; really like the green!

Thanks (its black though). I know what you mean about the lights I stuck a cheap $20 yellow pair in my TJM (ARB was not in my budget at the time). I think with some minor tweeking you can get that thing to line up close enough.

I would put some OEM Projector HIDs headlights in there and only use the Runners lights for high beams. To make make the police happy I'd also put some city lights in the headlight housings so they would still be lit up when in "low beam" mode. That would get you the best spread. I wanted to do this with my Excursion to get the low beams lower and out of people's faces but never got around to it before selling it. Then to top it off I'd put some driving lights under the "hoop" and your set!

My .02
Either way you have got a clean truck. Those Sahara bumpers are nice!

I'm in sparta, NJ. Do you mean why i needed to use the spacers to secure the fog light/turn signal plastic housing? My bumper did not have plastic clips.

This is very strange. where did you get your bumper from? Was it brand new from ARB?
I was wondering why you have German license plates...

P.S. I emailed my contact for the fog kits to find out the stock availability.
