Thanks for all the help so far guys!! I would look more seriously at a taco but here's a question...the bed of a double cab is 5.5' and I know when I go to tahoe some ski's will be longer than that. What type of options are out there for mounting in or ontop of the bed without having to go for a full rack that holds wood above the bed and cab?

How big are your skis? My bed fits my Salomon 1080 in 181cm, and my friend's K2 Hellbent in 185? and also Dynastar XXL's in 194. If you lay them diagonally, they'll fit fine.

But you might want to try looking for a double cab first. They are a bit more rare and cost a lot more.

Any good Tacoma seems to be rare.... Ive looked around, just to be able to look at one, and test drive.

I have no trouble fitting my snowboards and wakeboards in the bed of my double cab currently. I'm upgrading to a yakima roof rack system just to have the added "trunk space" though. The smaller bed will honestly hold more than you think it will. It's been great for all my needs! I love my dcab.

Just FYI, 1st Gen Double Cab Tacoma's were introduced in 2001. You won't find any 95-00 Double Cabs. (Per your signature).

I love my extra cab....it sucks now since having a baby. He has to ride in the front seat, rear facing and yes the airbag is off. A 4Runner would be sweet.

I had a 03 ext cab and loved it, with 285's and that light rear end it sucked HARD in the snow. I tossed in (4) 60 lb sand bags over the axle.. my runner now has 285's on it, and its a champ in the snow. plus room for 2 car seats in the back. Still wish I had a taco go with it. maybe later I'll just get an access cab tundra!
