YodaMonster's 1986 Pickup Build-Up Thread
Hi guys, my names Dylan, i live in beautiful British Columbia, Canada. Couple guys asked for a build thread, so here it is. I wanted to get into the 4 wheeling scene, and i knew i wanted a toyota, preferably with the solid front axle... but i settled lol. I bought this truck for pretty cheap, no fenders, no box, didnt start. it had been sitting for 5 or more years, had some major rust problems on the frame. so i bought it, and got to work.
Bringing her home
Bobbed the frame about 7 inches i think
before i started fabricating my cage bed, i decided to start off a little smaller by making some tube doors
found a salvageable fender at the wreckers for free, the guy was astonished i was actually put this on a truck haha, had to buy a jober one for the other side, quickly did all the bodywork on the truck one evening after work.
I looked at every page of the flatbed thread on pirate, and got some ideas, put a few of them together to my taste, and got to it.
Picked up the tool box off craigs list, and all the other aluminum checker plate is off of old tailgate covers (i work in a bodyshop, if you didnt catch that yet)
After i was done with the frame i got some POR-15 and covered it with that
painted the cage and doors
some extra chrysler red we had laying around
my other work in progress, 04 5.7 ram
building my front bumber
one day i might finish up the checker plate around the back and clean up the bed a bit, but for right now it will stay the way it is
Im sure i will never really be done with this thing, but heres how she sits right now, 2 inch body lift with 33's, i havent even had a chance to hit the trails with this yet.
