On a side note, I am going to have to get a radiator this week. The one in mine is officially shot. Had temp creeping again while climbing hills during my off-road trip the other weekend, and on Sunday on a drive to a friends house. It can still be a possible bad fan clutch, but I doubt it. While it's not an OEM part, the one that's on there now is less then two years old. And the only thing that helps is turning the heater on. Alot of fins are missing in this thing and I am surprised it's not leaking yet.
I am going with a 3vz radiator without a doubt and would prefer buying a new one and not yanking one from a junk yard.
AUTOZONE has one for like $150 ish with a lifetime warranty on it. I don't know how many rows (probably two) and it has plastic sides.
Radiator Barn's is $220-240 ish. They have two listed and I know one if for the 2wd runners, but they don't mention which one is which. I don't really want to spend that much on it, even though it's a 3 row radiator. Doesn't say if it's aluminum or steel, only says metal core and sides.

Yeah $230 seems a bit much for me to handle right now. Rad Barn's from what I can gather is actually a CSF radiator. I can get it for around $165 other places online, leading towards that.
Only issue I can see using the 3vz rad is I believe the 22r fan shroud won't work. I'll have to grab one from a junk yard.

Did you get the one for the 4cyl or did you switch to the 3.0 rad? There is a few levels of this CSF rad though one of which matches the prices that radiator barn has. The more I look into them the more confused I get. lol.

Thanks, and you may be right, part of my sig is getting ready to be scrapped though, so that'll free up some space
Wow, it actually fit...

I think I settled on this one, it's the cheapest I can find. Radiator Barn's has this same rad for $243 shipped.
This one is $177.85 Shipped. I've ordered BMW from these guys before. Seemed to be ok to deal with.

hmmmm Mixed reviews on ebay for this seller. Mostly positive though. I wonder if anyone on here had gotten one of these.
$94.83 shipped but it's only a 2-row rad. Might be fine though.

I think shrouds definitely aid in cooling/less work for fan clutch, etc. (I know, you're e-faning it, Ian, lol... But the E-fans actually have a shroud of their own)... But I've also had a rig without one. I did find, without one, in Summer, in the 110*F weather of Kern river area..... it was getting hotter. I went on that trip w/out it cuz mine was just tore up, lol. I couldn't bolt the corners up due to tearing of the eyelets... so I pulled it before the trip. It did almost become an issue. However.... you're not dealing with 110*F, .... so yeah, lol.
I do think it also protects the blades from flying debris???

Yeah my BMW doesn't have one on it either. It got damaged when I put a new on in that when we first bought it. Haven't had any issues, but that thing don't see high rpm & low speed at the same time. Which is what conditions I am gonna need it for. I think a shroud is gonna be the best for me.
I think this ebay one is a Silla through my research. Just need input on someone running this same one.
Right now that $178 one just isn't gonna fit the budget.

Again, I wouldn't run without one anyhow, since I've seen fan blade carnage on other vehicles that didn't have a shroud.
NOT EVEN trying to say "it's WRONG not to have one!!!!", lol.... Just sharing my experiences, Ian, ya know? BTW, ...is everything running perfectly now with that E-fan? Someone offered me one off an Explorer(I think) that they had in there 88 V6 4Runner... Just curious... I will probably grab it anyhow, for later install.
