I'd be leaning towards a false reading, too, if she only drove it a 1/2 mile. I've never trusted the guage in my daily driver. It sits at the very bottom of the guage for about the first 20 seconds of the engine running, and then pops up to the middle and stays there no matter what. I've never seen a temp gauge pop like that before, every other one I've had gradually climbs to operating temperature, but I've never actually looked into it.

Thanks Jason, It was a 20 mile drive, but I would rather go get her than do a repair that could be prevented. Its raining tonite, but the weather is looking good for tomorrow and in the evening.
Got it ready to go. Have gone over it several times. Primer looks good wet. Like a gray paint job. Should just wax it or clear coat it. Just joking. Just hope the paint comes out as nice.
Hello Dutch..I did the SR5 Guage swap in mine and it does the same thing. It stays cold and I think when the thermostat opens for the first time, it jumps to the half way mark. Later on I think what I will do is cover the radiator with cardboard and let it warm up a little, just to see if the needle moves any. The old guage moved up gradually.

I got it painted last nite. Found 2 small hail dings and some sanding scrathes I missed and a couple of small flaws. Kind of disappointed as I tried to go over it really well and missed them, but for the condition of what the truck was really in before, I am quite happy how it turned out.
When painting last nite, I had some gnats to land on it and get stuck. This morning I was able to get them off and they didnt do any damage that will really show. I still need to clear coat and will do that today.
Here is me with the first coat on.
Here is a front view.
Here is a side view.

Hello guys, Appreciate the comments, I gave it my best, but I am pretty sure Chip Foose isnt going to come knocking on my door for extra help.
The body work I was really satisfied with, there are some imperfections, but considering what it looked like before, it is alot better. The previous pictures of this truck just doesnt show how bad it really was. The guy I bought it from thought it would be best for parts or a beater. But since it was his dads he would of liked to see it fixed up. I plan on getting in touch with him later.
The paint went on great, didnt get a run anywhere. Did get some gnats in it, but was able to get them worked out before I clear coated it. I was happy with that too. It is bright white. WOW!!
Wellll...on the clearcoat, I got some Orange Peel and some runs. Dont know what happened. It wasnt hot, but we did get rain earlier in the morning so I am guessing humidity. I didnt think it was that humid. I needed to get it done as the shop I was using was going to be needed for this weekend, and I didnt want to have to wait for my next days off. Probably should of waited.
I will get after the wet sanding and want to get the black trim freshened up and have a little touch up and cleaning some over spray. Later on might do some pinstripping or something, it is further down the list.

Hey Twisted..lol It only took me 6 months, I would like a grey or red one.
Hello Chef.. I am getting ready to start on my transfer case. We have Rocktober coming up, I am hoping to get it running good enough to get there. Would like to take this and the 91 to it so the wife and I could both enjoy it. I dont have low range right now.
Hehe Jerry... I actually have a black top and was wondering what it would look like. Will eventually get it on just to see which I like better. The rock guards in front of the rear tires were originally white. I am going with black on them. I am trying to avoid the "Casper " look.

Dont know if this falls under the Redneck Inginuity post. But my antenna is broken. Tried finding one in the boneyard and it just isnt to be found. I have had to repair one like this before.
I am touching up overspray and had the Inner fender out and you are able to get to it from there. Also need to take the right kick panel off inside and above the ECU is where you can find the Antenna. Just have to work it out of the dash.
Not the best picture, but in the top picture you can see I just found a bolt that threaded into the two broken pieces and cut the head off twisted them together. I have done this before and it works great.
Broken
Twisted into one fixed piece.
ee the bolt in the top half of the antenna.

Hello 90yota.. I missed getting a 85 4Runner, solid axle, EFI and SR5, by a day. It only had one scratch in the fender and just needed a motor. I envy you guys. I seen I missed you earlier and like to respond to all that stop by.
Hello Twisted..I tried finding a new one and had to come up with something, did this before and is working good. I know this has to be a fairly common problem.
Thanks Outsane.. I have seen a couple and think you are right. It looks like a truck at first and second glance.
Hello Dutch..I sometimes it seems like things are moving slow, but I went and looked at my thread and within 6 months things have gotten done. The 4Runner is getting more comfortable to drive and nice having everything working.
