My computer quit and I used to be in the IT field years ago and that stirred up alot of cob webs getting it to work again. Been doing some overtime, cooking stove went on the brink, and the hot tub fried a connector. Still dont have that fixed just yet, just need to find the parts to get it going again. Got nearly everythign fixed back up at the house so am getting to work on the trucks again. Oh I have a slow bathroom drain to fix as well now, grrr. I do not care for home repair.

I detailed the frame and all overspray. I used BBQ spray to blacken the mudflaps with a tire marker pen for the Toyota.

This is the second truck I have worked on that someone uses the front marker lights for a place to tap into for towing trailers. Why??? I will post the kit for a Plug and Play light kit later on that is so much better. Also some Toyotas have the whole core support painted tot he color of the truck, others have about halfway down the head light and and the rest is black. I stayed to the way that this truck came.

A side view with the side glasses in. Also got the weather seals back on the door, thresholds back on, locks back in the doors, and some other odds and ends done.

Another view with my 85 in the background. If I could ever get spark to the plugs, I should have it on the road soon. IFFF I ever get spark to the plugs. That part is giving me a run for my money. A new harness is starting to looking really good at this point. Be glad to get mine to this 86s condition. It will happen if I can just get it running.

For your valves yes noisy is normal with the 22re...So usually what we all do is .007 and .011 COLD. Then they quite down but aren't too tight to cause issues. If you ask around most of the toyota gurus run 7-11 for valve clearance.

This picture was from a year ago. I was washing my Runner yesterday and seen my tags are going to expire at the end of this month and got me to thinking how far I have came with mine. Doesnt seem like a year already. In the next year, I will finish the trunk, headliner in the removable top as it is in bad shape, suspension, steering, and brakes. Doesnt sound like a whole lot, but I have shifted my funds to my 85 as I need a truck and once I get it going, it wont take to long to get the 85 to where I want it to be and I will get back on the runner. I have about 5000 miles on it since getting my Runner on the road. I feel like I am riding in a newer looking body and interior but now I want to get the comfy ride that is still lacking.

Jason mentioned on his thread. His had an engine fire a while back and in a few months he will be bringing it out here. I will repaint his hood, go thru the fuel system, and see what is holding his injectors down and some other details that he wants to have taken care of.

I try to paint atleast one truck a year and my best has been three trucks in a year. Seems like everything just came up this year but I got the 86 painted so was happy with that accomplishment. It is just a personal goal of mine.

Other news, Hunter has been bugging me about the red runner I have in back. He says he wants moms runner and that isnt happening. I learned my lesson on buying kids trucks with my step son. Mine are going to buy or build one. Hunter is wanting to build the red one into what he thinks is a monster truck. Right now he wants as big of a tire as possible, 35 inch or bigger and wants it to be slimer green. I am sure he will change his mind several times between now and then.

I told him I would match him $2 for every $1 he saves for the build. It will be a 5 or 6 year build as he is going to do all the work and I will help him. I will let him have access to my tools and parts and throw in a part for him that might hold him up occasonally. He likes running the electric tools, impact wrench and primer gun so I will have to keep it interesting for him.

It is cheaper to buy a rebuilt motor, but he isnt getting that option. He is going to have to build his motor and it will be easier for him to buy part a little at a time.

Justin still doesnt know what he wants. He likes the hot rods. I dont have any intentions of them letting them ruining my trucks and hopefully when they build their own they will take better care of them.

I am giving them incentive to build theirs. Im sure they dont want dad driving them around on their dates with me wearing shorts and knee high socks or my golfers out fit of a button up shirt with sweat pants, white socks and dress shoes.

I had fun raising my last teenager, he start arguing in public, I would just start scratching my butt and he would disappear quick. hehe...

I am not sure what weekend I will be up there. I have to be there on a Friday morning so I will leave here early Thursday. If you want I can help you get your tranny in around Thursday evening on the weekend I am to be up there. I wouldnt charge you, so no worrys there. I have a tranny jack and a Clutch Alignment tool. Would there be any other tools you might need? It should only take a couple of hours to get it installed.

I sent you a text but not sure if you have the same number.

Only problem is....i cant lift anything right now. I literally have several rutpured discs right now. I could be tool boy at best. Clutch is brand new. I have a HF trans jack. I have every tool we could ever need. No way on earth you are leaving here if you do it without a couple hundred in your pocket. Bring the clutch tool though...if rear main is leaking prolly be a good idea to fix.

I was looking on Craigslist for some insulation for the shop. We have cold weather coming and between the heat and cold, I have not gotten as much done as I would like. Found some insulation for a great deal. I got enough to finish the ends of my shop and to get a start on the roof. Really hoping this makes a difference. Once I get it covered up with plywood it will look alot better. I will have my brother to help with the plywood for a better look. Carpentry is not my strong point.

Detailing some of the trim pieces. I would like something to whiten the letters on the mudflaps better, but this is what I have done in the past.

Information I was looking for.

Getting cover off, I used wire cutters to bend the tabs up on the cover. The rubber seal really makes it tough to get off. Luckily the wires are soldered on real well, I used a screw driver to work around the edges of the seal to help free the cover.

We got rain and I had this spare. Thought while I was at it I would clean it. It had rust in it. It cleaned up well and still works. I will take some electric contact cleaner to it and keep it as a spare.

Hello HiLux...I got the Valance in and I really think it is great quality. It was $48 including shipping. It comes in a large box, so shipping was probably the greatest cost but for 48 total, I think it is a great price. I still have not put it on and will here today or tomorrow. It is made in Taiwan, but I am satisfied with the quality.

Terry I used Dupli-Color touch up paint from o'reily's or autozone. The color was something like "Toyota White" a universal toyota white paint I guess. I wish I could find that little bottle for you and I.....I was looking for it last weekend to touch up my rear mud guards on my camry but couldn't find it. It comes with a brush so it's easy to apply and seems to be lasting and looking great.

We have a guy off at work so am having to help pick up the slack until he gets back. I have managed to get some more insulating done on the shop in hopes of getting more time out in the shop. Last winter it was to cold and this summer it was to hot. Really hoping it makes a difference. My torpedo heater worked great in my last shop but without insulation, last year it just was not able to keep up.

Had to use my 86 runner to go get the 3rd gen runner. For the first time since I have had it, 8 years or so, it would not start. The battery terminal corroded and was not making good contact. I took some Coke to neutralize the acid, a wire brush and then cleaned it with soap and water. Looks good as new. Probably going to need a new battery for it in the near future. Other then that, it has never given any problems.

I seen a runner with a paint color nearly the same as mine. It had the top painted black and some 20 something inch rims. I like mine a whole lot better. The black top and those funky rims, just did not do it for me.

I should of gotten a lot more done today then what I did. Seem like everything was just not going the way that it should. The 86 Extra cabs had a black bumper on it. I am putting a chrome bumper on it and had to move the hardware over from the black one. I soaked the nuts in bolts in rust killer for quite some time and still had to use the cutoff wheel. There was a day I did not have a cutoff wheel and some how managed to live without it. Now I got one, I use it all of the time.

Then I went to remove the wiring that someone used to install trailer lights and that turned into removing half of the dash and still do not have it all out. Do not know what they were thinking. The wiring in the rear is a mess too.

While working on the truck, a guy stopped by and was interested in buying it. Told him it was not for sale. He then seen my 85 pickup and you tell he thought it was a pile of junk, it is but just for a little while longer. Just need to get fire to the plugs and it will get worked on a lot faster. I am taking three harnesses and making one and I have a lead on the harness I need to correct the problem so something hopefully will happen soon on it.

I am replacing the valance on the pickup with a runners valance. The one that comes on pickups look like a "chinstrap" to me and think the runners looks better. I am taking 3 rear bumpers to make one good one. Does not look like much for five hours, but that is the way it goes. You are going to hit slow spots and then you will hit fast spots.

I will paint the valance next week. For a part from Taiwan, I think it is a well made piece. If you decide to use a runners valance, you will need to find some other brackets that come off of the blinkers that mount part of it, but should not be to hard to find.

That insulation will help alot in the garage. You will lose most your heat out of the roof so that is what i would try to get covered first.
