Ted's 94 xtra cab swapstoration
Hello everyone,
Been thinking about a Toyota pick up swap for a long time and I finally pulled the trigger. I looked at hundreds of donors and quite frankly, the current owners always seem to want too much for them or they are too beat up. Also, since I'm a 63 year old man and don't have my own shop and will not be doing any of the work myself, I felt that there would be no way to bring the finished build in at a cost that would be reasonable or marketable.
At any rate, I'm "in it" now. Here is a picture of the beauty I found to start with. It has 200K on the chassis, and is from the west coast so has no rust, and is really straight. The bed had a bedliner in it's whole life so the bed is flawless.
I've purchased a donor 3.4 motor and am planning on a certified warrantied long block to be put together and swapped for the old 3.0 by NW Team Yota in Vancouver Washington, mated to a new clutch and 5 speed transmission, with dual exhaust. I'm hoping to eliminate the exhaust crossover and have each manifold exit exhaust directly on it's own.
Wish I could do a supercharger, but the drivetrain looks like it is already going to cost me over 6 grand. I will be going through all the systems and replacing anything that needs replacing. I'm planning on redoing the interior too, to make this like a new truck. Anyway, this build should go fairly quick once it gets started. When complete this should be a rare beauty in a class of it's own.
Please add your comments and suggestions. I'm in Portland Oregon

That is a great looking truck you have and trying to find an extended cab around here is a tough thing to find. I had one similar to yours and still miss it. They ride and run great. With a 3.4 in it, I think you will be more then happy with the results. Welcome to Yotatech.
