Its so cool to see so many Santa Cruz 4Runners. How many of us are there? Your build looks great btw! I was building a supercharged 1st gen but I totaled it. We should all plan a meet some day or something.

Agree, but I want to tag along in my P-Up... 'Cause you need me... to haul stuff and/or make fun of....

There's a few of us around, we should get something together soon. Supercharger huh? Still got it?

Seriously, I'd thought that after moving from downtown to the midtown I'd see you at least ONCE... but no such luck. Anyhow, constructive criticism. I think it's an amazing work-in-progress. I'm an IFS kinda guy... but this S.A.S. build sure does have me scheming.
Did you get that ARB 4.88 off some guy here in S/C? I was looking at one the other day, but went with a set of Street tires and SR5 rims instead for that MPG... Let me know what it's like when you put it in!

:UPDATE:
It's been a minute, apologies for bogging. I have been obsessed by these damn RC cars and haven't been putting any $ or time into the 4runner.
So... Recently got rear pick up axle complete and sold the old one. I put 2 more leaves in the RUF pack for total of eight, this fixed my bump stop issue. Put 2" blocks in rear but still won't sit level. Blocks will be temporary hopefully. Yah! It's not on jack stands anymore!!!

My RUF springs are giving me caster angle around 10*. I have TG drop hanger and 5"(eye to eye) shackles. I want to try shorter shackles to improve caster angle. From what ive read, with larger tires 4-6* is ideal. Any suggestions?? besides cut and rotate knuckles. Thanks!

Drilled shackles to 3.5". Changed my caster from around 10* to around 7*(with angle finder). Lowered front maybe 3/4". Also shock hoops and front shocks!!

Thanks. Ya I jammed around the block a couple times to see how it feels. That gnarly vibration is gone and seems to be good so far. Next steps are possibly adding leaf to current rear springs or trying different rear leaf pack all together, Maybe longer rear shackles, Rear shocks and mounts, Steering stabilizer, New tires w/ alignment, Put in the ARB 3rd and I need to figure out how to make Ebrake work(I would like to have one).
It has taken way to long but I very happy with it so far.

Hey there! I remember you mentioning something about 4.56 gearing being the best but I noticed in your sig you have 4.88 gearing. I can't decide which one to go with. I run 32" tires and want to upgrade from my 4.10 gearing but also want to be able to get up to speed and have decent gas milage on the highway (i.e. 75 mph). What would you recommend?

I remember ya, you got that new engine awhile back. I'll have to check your thread for an update.
If you are running 32" tires I would go with the 4:88 IMO. Yes, when I was running 31" tires the 4:56 were awesome!. I will be running 33" tires with the new SAS, that's why I gots the 4:88. IMO gearing is one of the best mods.

I was thinking about just jumping to the 4:88 because I want to eventually setup my rig for serious off road with front and rear lockers. I think I'll stick with the IFS for now but would like to do SAS but can't decide.

I have RETURNED TO Y.T.!
School's a B.Z. sometimes... keeps you 'real BUSY. But, there's worse afflictions.
So, It WAS you who was holler'n my S/N! I'm stoked to know finally! I'd heard you many times!
I spied your truck a few blocks over whist I was out riding bicycles with my ol' lady from the new Pump Track.... Sheesh, we'd likely met without knowing there if you'd brought those R/C's by that track, since I occasionally ride my BMX there!
Yea, my house... I built a little minibike track there. We should coordinate a day or two to get the R/C's rolling 'round there! I've got a few doubles I bet ya' can't clear! :p
Anyhow, Rig looks great. Stoked to see a 91' 22RE still kickin'. I'd like to ask you a few Q's about that, how its road-manners are, and what It'll entail for me to finally stick a 82/3/4/5 axle under my truck.
Great to reconnect with ya', man!
