Looking good! I happen to have your twin... Just got a 1991 Toyota 4Runner (Blue/blue) with 22RE, 5spd, 4x4. and it even has a dented rear drivers 1/4 panel. Anyway, I'm just getting started and have it in the shop for a performance rebuilt (22RE) long block engine, pro clutch, p/s system, axle, brakes, etc. I've already replaced the cooling system components, battery, and some missing interior parts. I plan on getting into the suspension soon after the intake and exhaust.
I'll keep up with your build and hope to pick up some helpful tips.
Here's my rig as I purchased it. It's now much cleaner with new tires and much TLC.

I plan on following your build for tips, glad I found a twin rig. My build is on my sig now, I plan on updating with plenty pictures this week. Next on my list is cold air intake w/ battery/air box swap. My 4Runner doesn't seem to have much body roll, my suspension is pretty decent though, I would guess: sway bar mounts or shocks. Keep us posted on what fixes that.

JPL- Looking forward to your battery/air intake swap.... as I will most likely use it as a guide for mine! All my sway bar bushings and links are new but my shocks seem to only last 3 months or so and my ride is pretty terrible. One of these days all get quality shocks but with the bj spacers there are only a handful to choose from.

Beautiful truck!
I'm glad I can get a sense for what my '90 will look like when i finally put on my bj spacers, lc coils, and 33x12.5 tires! It'll have perfect stance if it looks like yours.
Just wish I could find a front bumper like yours.. buying one online would cost my more than I paid for my '82 pickup!
Keep the updates coming man. Next you should get a snorkel!

:UPDATE:
Went to Salinas earlier today and scored a OEM 4:56 4cyl 3rd member AND a OEM 4:88 6cyl 3rd both for $200. bucks! Its so funny 'cause I was just saying in another post how hard the factory 4:88 3rd is to find and then all of a sudden I come across these on Craigs.
I dont have solid plans for these yet, as I have so many ridiculous Toyota fantasy's I would like 4:88's in my Runner but need to come up with the front I also have that solid axle in the garage that wants love! I dunno? My lil brother is begging me for the 4:56haha.... xmas is coming.

Could be in either. Also the v6 3rds will fit and they are stronger. Search gear ratio codes or axle codes. You'll love the the 4:56 w/ 31"s

Could you give us some specifics on the 4:56 gear ratio on the 22RE, 5spd, 4Runner w/ 31's? Such as gear range and top speeds. All the calculators I've looked at are very basic and don't seem to give enough info. I want something with more bottom end torque, but will do fine on the interstate (75mph) w/o revving too high. Thanks!

When I put the 4:56's in and still had the 31's it was definitely a noticeable change. Freeway @3K-3200k rpm around 75 mph. Going from a stop sign or light the rig has much more pick up and would actually push me back in my sit a bit combined w/ my exhaust system.
Anyways, now Im running 33's and it feels same as before I re-geared it Hope that helps a lil.
In a nut shell as many know the 4:56 is matched for the 31' tire. So basically your rig will have same "get up and go" as it did fresh from the factory with 4:10 and 29" tire(most likely).... If that makes any sense

:UPDATE:
I decided to put my 31s back on and took my winch bumper off. Lowered torsion bars about 1.5". Rig rides much much better now.
I also am very slowly cleaning up and rebuilding a 84(I think?) front axle. I have TG creeper gussets on the way and I think I want to use the trunnion bearing eliminator kit.
Couple days ago I painted these 22re valve covers. They came out pretty good. Ill probably use the gold one and Giants one is for my little bro. I will post another pic when I put it on.

Your 4runner is sooo cool! I'm very jealous too... Lol.
Have you thought about doing the short ram intake swap where you put the battery on the other side? I was thinking of trying that sometime with my 95 22re, it's pretty much stock. My pickup on the other hand is the 3.0 but that thing is just a beater of a redneck pickup lol.

Thank you!
Thank you, I have read about a lot of people doing it, seems like it would give better throttle response.
Here's a couple of the gold cover installed. Its gotta give a least another 10-15 hp!
