I found some time to get down to the shop. here are some pics of where i left off and progress shots too.





This is the 4th wheel well tat i have clearnced like this and they get cleaner as i go haha. I used to cut the whole inner well into strips then weld thoses to the outer part but I noticed today that the top part is flat so i left it as one big flap took the curve out and welded it in as one pice and im really happy with the way it came out.













I will still chop the outer parts into srtips and fill in the open areas with 16ga sheet metal.

 

Looks good, but it's still a lot of work! Gotta love the rust we get around here.

 

Yeah gotta love it haha but wouldn't trade New England for any other place on earth. Having some muscles and beer then back at it in a few love the seaboard.

yeah its wide open. If you can try to get rid of the lip at the edge of the wheel well on the inside it just attracts dust and dirt the will help rot it out in the future. Even if you don't make the wheel well bigger just cur the very edge and spot weld it, just a suggestion im very happy with mine not having the lip and its a lot easier to pressure wash with out it

throw in a 4.30 third and the r151 to see how i like the gears then install the locker it its all good.

get the cooling fan on a snap close t-stat

fix the boost gauge line

little bit of an update. I installed a new set of springs up front, I has 4"TG and the runner was like a slinky at stop signs. I figured with the extra weight of the diesel the springs were preloading them just about to the max. A while ago i bought TG 3"HD front springs because i wanted to lower the truck and to have a stiffer spring. Also the front and rear axle has been leaking like a sive and there are two really dead spote on the lawn so i ordered a new set of seals. Next im going to install taco calipers and rotors/ ifs hubs on the front axle to help stop the 37s. The culprit on the rear axle is the outer seal and i hate changing thoses out one hell of a process so i ordered annother full float kit for the rear should be here soon. PICS

 

Came home from dinner to find the first part of my full float kit had arrived MMMMMMM cromo axxxxxxllllles!

 

After a late start this morning this is where i picked up











Borrowed a tent from a friend to keep out of the sun.







Got the knuckle off and scraped all the oil soaked ditt off it as much as i could.







Punched out the races







With the "While im at it" attitude Im installing a marlin crawler 25mm steering pin upgrade.

And last pic...new races installed. Im installing a taco brake upgrade kit and it requires ant i swap the knuckles so i need to get the other side apart and clean before i can start reinstalling any parts

 

I got the passanger side torn down (leaking the most) and oh yeah i forgot that was the side I poped my birf cherry and didnt have a new inner axle seal to put in.





I got the trail gear seals over the knuckles to the back side and that was a PITA but its done. Pulled the front diff, pulled it apart and installed a new pinion seal now just waiting for the new to me gears, little rust on them bu no matter its going to be the front anyway.

 

Finished for the night...got the driver side as far as i can go with out the diff. Looks good with the marlin bling.

 

Got the rest of the full float kit last night...cant wait to start tearing into the rear axle putting that togeather. I think for now im going to take the diff out of the rear and out it in the front because its the only thing holding me up now and it looks like im getting 4.30 diff off owndog this weekend Big help thanks man.

 

I thought your rear was already a full floater?

What are you up to this weekend? Were wheelin at my folks house on Saturday in Royalton..

And Id be happy to take those old highsteer arms off your hand if there taking up too much shop space. Hah!

 

The gas rig is already full floater this is the diesel...spent so much time on it this winter working on the body that i didnt hav a chance to attend to the mechanical side of things. I would but the gas rig has the cheapest clutch i could find and now im paying for it...cant start from a dead stop with out the truck(or car as its know to the state of VT) wanting to shake its self apart have a new clutch coming in today b ut dbout i will be ready in time but i want to go and will let you know whats going on. If you want tot high steer arms i would take 80...140 new with shipping

 

I started with installing a new inner axle seal on the passanger side. I didnt want to shell out stupid money plus shipping for the marlin axle seal installer so i made my own out of 3/4" hardware at home depot.























Use a hammer to seat the seal and DONE!







The spindle bolted on with the taco caliper bracket







Rebuilt IFS wheel hub on.







And rotor/caliper











I was concerned that the wheel was going to rub but everything fits perfect.
