oooo nice. I havent check up on your thread in months. I see you're finally getting your SAS done too. Now you're really gonna have a beastly looking rig.

well, I will be taking a 2 hour ride to pickup a 3vz 2wd oil pan.....goodtimes, just what I need at the 11th hour.

Does that help with clearance with the SAS or steering?

Both, I didn't realize the 3vz needed a different oil pan till late last night. And very few threads address the issue.

I did an axle swap and I didn't change the oil pan. Whats the reason for the change because i have a 3VZE? I don't get it.

upper link clearance
you can see here the axle is too far over on the passenger side inner rail. Thats because the upper bracket is contacting the starter just before full bump. These pics show the axle shoved over and contacting the motor mount bracket at full bump. I'm using the lower hole on the upper hole (cuz i can't get a bolt in the lower due to my clocked tcase) on the frame side bracket and the lower hole on the upper axle bracket.



also the upper bracket makes contact with the panhard. I actually re-welded the upper bracket after this pic and moved it rearward as far as i could while keeping it straight to the axle.



the one pic i didn't get was looking down on the frame side panhard bracket. I had it positioned very close to the axle bracket to nest it between the bracket opening like all the pics on the website show. My issue is that the panhard frame bracket contacts the axle bracket like the axle has to slide to the driverside, but the axle is centered. Hoep that makes sense. Ill try to get a few more pics up.

Some pics of progress

had to change out to a 2wd oil pan...6hrs of driving on friday just for that!




Here is more...not done, but closing the gap.



Panhard and draglink lined up(drilled panhard frame bracket after this pic



After cutting the frame brackets off and sliding back 1/2" recommended by Mr. Osborne due to the pitman contacting the tierod under compression (actually i slid it back 5/8", but don't tell). this also gave the upper axle link clearance from the starter a little better.




Steering arm to contact frame side panhard mount, had to clearance





Panhard passenger notch(need to clearance inside rail)

Maybe I missed something while reading up on your thread but what is up with your frame? Did you previously have frame rust that had to be cut out and replaced or what? I just couldn't help but to notice those welds that's all.

Not sure what you are referring to about the frame rust. My truck is pretty rust free considering where i live. Perhaps you are referring to the frame plating?

you talking about the panhard clearance for the ssuspension?:



I told Brian from 4Wheel Underground that I would put together a write up of what and how I installed his kit along with some issues I ran into for future installers.

Put in a long night and clearanced the bottom of the frame to gain more uptravel...looks like I'll be in the 4" of uptravel neighborhood.

To give you a perspective on the 4Wheel Underground capability...
IFS truck on an RTI gets to 12" before wheel lift
4WU 3-Link on an RTI gets to 40"

Oh no. You got it thanks for verifying that. I jist thought that you might have removed a hole or something caused by rust and welded it with new plates like I see on some of these rust fixing threads. Makes sense why you did that. Great work man.

WOW!.... Takes notes and makes plans to do this someday in the future after I've broken everything I have now! Lol. Well obviously I don't plan on breaking the dirty thirties or anything like that soon... But when the springs wear out I should say? Heehee

But seriously though, thanks for sharing everything in detail, Dr BX! Always love your write ups but this one I've got me excited to see the results in a practical application!

Wow with no updates on your sas I figured you were either on your trip or dead. As least its just stitches.

Super glue would have worked... hope it heals quick.
