SoCal is nice, I drove thru Temecula last year when it was 109*, felt like I was in an oven.
But your stuff doesn't have a short shelf life like ours does, humidity = rust.

Ian,
Yeah it was a good time, too bad i could drive on the beach, would have made carrying the cooler easier.
I am in OBX the last week of this month. Where did you stay? Drive on the beach?

stayed with a family friend at mp16.5 in nags head, right next to the pier. no beach for the truck (we took the tribute), but honestly, didn't need it. we were so close to the beach that there was no reason to go find somewhere to drive around. very relaxing.
i took a plane ride while i was down there. li'l biplane. great fun, very enjoyable. i recommend you take one of the flights

Or Hecho in Mexico. I know that it's tough to get LOTS of things from Japan right now.... Even Toyota Dealership has been telling me, "back order" or "2-3 days from Florida" more often, lately.
I'm pretty sure Napa has a kit for that, mostly Altrom(Aisin) , etc., and yet, I can't remember when I saw that. Can't say if it's a good deal or yet another like those, "Dangit! They sent me those fake HG's for my 3.0" type things. lol.
Found this from 2007 with my buddy Thook slingin some ideas to him.....
https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...erince-119910/
I hope it's a good one... I'm just so leary of Ebay anymore....but like thook says, .... "Hey, did you look at their customer feedback? 100%, if that means anything?" .... Not sure it does or not, ...but you're the one that's gotta bite the bullet, right? lol
Best wishes, RB

PS> YES, VERY COOL, IAN! I took a Helicopter ride over the Mississippi, glass bottom one.... the guy loved messing with me at 14yrs old, lol... "Hey, look over there", then he'd PITCH IT and make it feel like we were falling out of the sky, haha. He even said, "Hey, look, Sharks!" ,....and of course, I looked!hahahaha.

I ordered the timing kit.
I'm not to worried about it not being OEM, this engine is not permanent. If it sees another 30k miles i'll be waaaaay behind schedule for the TDI swap. With that said, i looked at their feedback on fleabay, i also Googled them and found numerous forums with very positive things to say about their products, even a thread that Mizumo Auto recommended buying OEM gaskets because of failure problems(referring to a Subaru with head issues). I called them and spoke to a woman, she was very knowledgeable about the brands and product. Plus i couldn't beat the price. I did not order it from eBay, it was actually cheaper from their site.
In other news....
The Fume Runner, as my brother now calls my rig. Became very stinky after i modified the crossover. I expected this to an extent because i didn't replace the crossover gaskets, i didn't have them on hand, and figured i would take my chances to see if they leak...and they did.
So yesterday i started the truck and felt exhaust leaks on both ends of the crossover pipe, and the main down pipe...to the parts store and grab the three gaskets i need.
I had the old gaskets out and new ones in, in 20 minutes. I did need a pry bar to push the downpipe back far enough to slip the gasket in,...oh...and the PO never put a gasket in the down-pipe(jerk!), so of course that one leaked.
All gaskets on and no more fumes, you don't realize how much it leaks until its gone, and running with the top down is the biggest test.

Well when you get ready to do the swap hopefully the 3.0 will still be reliable and you can sell it to help offset the cost. Plus you can say it has a new timing chain kit.
