Now see, I'd rather be cold then hot, you can ALWAYS put more clothes on to be warm, but can take off only so much to be cool!

cold = can't work on truck, plastic brittle, fingers(no glove will keep them warm, and thin enough to use)

cold on a bike, makes me tighten up, and loose concentration. Cold tires don't grip. Can't peel cold stickers.

I could do this all day, which is why my 5 year plan has me relocating to somewhere i can decorate a Palm tree for xmas!!

I hear ya, too, RB! Actually, I'm just talking about 'sleeping in as much as possible. That's what I meant by it "Holds in the COOL longer in the morning", but TRUST ME, the top is SUWEET, and I'd love to have one, myself! Trust me, some times when I'm camping it's 90*F by 9AM in the morning, ....100+ by 11am, ...and NOTHING, to me, sucks more than staying up late and waking up early sweating like a pig, hahaha.

I'll be LOVING this Spring and Summer, YEEEHAWWWWWW! lol. Can't wait for some time off and a lillllll more certainty with my rig, lol.

Rock on, RB!

Blue smoke video

So here is what my truck does if it sits for a few hours. The longer it sits the less smoke. Tell me what you think it is.

RBX, it has to be oil getting into the cylinder somehow. Most likely valve seals but could be the head gasket. Longer it sits the less it smokes?

It does smell like oil, but only on start up. After a few seconds the oil smell and smoke goes away. And when I crush the skinny pedal no extra smoke is expelled like I would expect from a hg.
Make sense?

Seems more like Valve Sealing issue then...... Yes? No? Maybe so? hehe. Hope all is well, RB! Checking in and really curious about the blue smoke dilemma/query! It's SO WEIRD sometimes, ..... like with me, having so many issues/gremlins, but then finding that the OBVIOUS candidates just don't fill in the "blank" at the 'solution' side of the investigation! lol. Couldn't be ring related, right?

BTW, SOUNDS SICK! Really, I'm serious...that is one of the nicest sounding, not overly 'PAPOW', THROATY lil suckers I've heard in a while!

Yeah head gaskets there are usually other issues that go with the smoke. Like over heating under load and what not. I have seen a few jimmys and s10's blow smoke on start up and its head gaskets of intake gaskets. But urs may just be the valve seals are starting where its not bad enough to do it on closed throttle decell but when u shut it off the oil that is trapped in the head is seeping past the seal into the cylinder.

Thanks guys.
I am hoping its the seals on the drivers bank, so I can just change those. The engine swap is eminent, this is just a stop gap measure to preserve the longevity of the engine which is why I'll be doing the crossover mod, so number six does die.

Thanks guys for all the help

Mark,
I missed your reply about the exhaust...thanks, i like it. FYI...It is 2.25" from the manifold back, to Cherry Bomb(Glasspack) to Flowmaster Delta 40. Deleted catalytic....vroooom!

And yesterday it finally arrived:

MR2 alternator 210-0184

Now i need to source the correct size fusible link, and extend my alternator bracket.

U gonna run a 3.0 turbo diesel or u gonna try an find a 2LT2 they are so hare to find. I was looking for one at one point when I still had my 86. But there is a please online called dieseltoys that dose nothing but swapping in factory diesel motors for the year of the truck. Like the factory diesel engine for your runner is the 3.0 that they put in the surfs

VW 1.9TDI easy to find and a huge tuner base. Safely tune it to 200hp, I'd be happy with 150hp, not to mention the monster torque. Plus 30mpg mixed driving! I chatted with a guy that replaced his taco's 3rz, and he says the 1.9 pulls harder currently he can't stop the clutch from slipping.

I know, i know....

But i am finding it hard to resist the good things i've heard and seen using these mighty little engines. PLUS...i can get an intercooler, and use a functional hood scoop.
Nothing is set in stone, so i am still researching this swap.

my vote is normal. My rebuilt does the same thing as startup. Hard to tell though is that smoke blue?
