MossyOak 91 pickup (nissan diesel)
Hey all. New to the forum with a great build. I know this is a toyota forum so sorry if the nissan part is offending. But i couldn really find many nissan forums that weren dead :p
So this project has already been started and this evening i will be taking a few pics for you guys.
Its a 91 nissan extended cab 4banger gas 4x4
Something on the motor went out. He pulled it rebuilt it an well ended up selling it for a nice profit.
Right next to it was an old nissan datsun pickup. Interior shot, beat up body, 2wd kingcab standard 5 speed.
We had the crazy idea to put the diesel in his 91. Now this 91's not in the best shape....but it has a title unlike the datsun. And its not rusted out lol.
Well after some searching and talkin to a mechanic we found out the swap is possible! Only problem we had was bellhousings. Come to find out the bellhousings are interchangable....with a little love of course(;
We ended up having to use the diesel bearings. And we had to drill out the shift fork holes. After that we were able to stab it.
In the bed we have the sd22 which is a indirect injected (idi) 2.2l four cylinder non turbo diesel engine. Of course we did test fire it before we pulled it.
Our plans are to put it in hopefully this weekend and then take it to a dedicated diesel mechanic to get it all wired up, as well as some injection pump love(;
Other than some different brackets and ac hose work it should be fairly straight forward.
And if not, windows down and the datsun manual gearbox are fine with me(:
Should be getting high 20's/low30's fuel economy wise when done.

Got a little cleaning done on the motor.
Gonna load it up and take it to a car wash tomorrow. Not as dirty as i thought it would be but still pretty nasty. It is still 30 years old though.
Going to go ahead and put a new valve cover and oil pan gasket on there and a new water pump. I am aware that parts for these engines are quite hard to find so if the local stored don't have it i'll prolly go online to a forklift parts site.
Here are a few pics of some cleaning i did
