Pics of the WabFab bikini top installed...

Still need the strap for the bow, then I'm off for a test drive.

Not too bad. The instructions on the Brian's website help with the install. The straps are a bit too long, but they work anchored to the floor. Keeps the sun off my neck though

I asked my wife what she thinks of the top. She said' "That bikini makes your truck look fat!"

Since I last posted....

I had an oil leak from the distributor O-Ring that is now fixed.

Also, I didn't like the way the bikini top fit in relation to the roll bar, so I added some padding to the bar to raise the top a bit. WabFab also recommends a strap between the roll bar and the support bow on the bikini top. I thought I'd post my solution since it works really well. I had an old military rifle sling lying around, so I took off the hardware and wrapped it around the roll bar, then the bow, and reinstalled the clasp. It stays tight, even at 75 miles per hour.

I also installed the production version of my front bumper design. It's a little wider for corner protection, and has the nicer bends. You'll notice i stuck on some 'Death Proof' decals too.

I'm looking for a set of 15x8 black rock crawlers, if anyone has them, let me know.

WOW looks like I found the pefect thread right off... Put a smal deposit ( $100 ) on the soon to be mine 86 4Runner I found on craigs that has been sitting for several months. After jumping it off with my own truck I drove it around the EMPTY lot ( large Chevrolet dealer ) and offer $1000 out the door. They took it. I think I'm hooked already!

Cool, when you get a chance, start a thread and post some pics. It's always fun to see other people's progress. Welcome to YT! Enjoy the Runner.

We went wheeling yesterday to Iron Lakes, just outside Yosemite CA. This was, so far, the most fun I've had in the runner! Iron Lakes is about 9000 ft elevation, and roughly 15 miles off the beaten path. I got a little damage on the passenger fender, that would have been much worse without the sliders. Here's a few pics, I'll post some more when I get them off my buddy's camera. Enjoy...

Doug's stock 85 on 235 75's made it through, lol. His drivers' rear was 3' off the ground going down this section. I think his dad might have wet himself.

More pics of the Iron Lakes run.

I don't know why, but when I see a huge log I want to drive on it...

Update on the Runner. I had a leaky clutch master cylinder. Bought a new one from O'Reilly's, for the price ($28) and it has a lifetime warranty. Well, it was junk, go figure. Returned that one for a refund, and got an OE Toyota one like I should have in the beginning. Works great now. I also swapped my front calipers to a set of big piston ones from a 95 Pickup. What a difference. I will also be switching out the brake master and booster to the 1" from the 95. Other than that, things are good to go. Gearing up for the 09 Pismo Jamboree!!

Well, I just googled 'toyota drivetrain lift', and got this link- http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/CheapTri...ft/index.shtml

Thanks 4crawler! This is one of my next projects. I'm also going to build a spare tire carrier off my roll bar, and order a set of Soft 8's next week. I'll post pics of the progress.

Tomorrow I'm swapping a 95 W56 tranny and forward shift t-case into my Runner. My t-case ate the new output shaft seal in just 7k miles, so I'm guessing it's due for a rebuild. Should be a straight forward swap. Wish me luck.

Well the new transmission is in! Easy as pie. The only things that needed to be swapped were the 4wd indicator switch, reverse light switch, and the speed sensor. I did have to make room for the shifter, cut about 1.5 inches or so in the front part of the opening in the floor. It shifts so nice now, and makes no noise. An added bonus, the shifter was already extended for my body lift. Should be good to go for the Pismo run.

Definitely. I was looking at it today since the truck was on the lift. I think I'm going to try to tuck it up a couple inches this week, just to see how I like it. I've also been looking at BudBuilt cross members this weekend. I might try to fab one of my own though.

Thanks for the compliment RMA. It's coming along. BTW, are you signed up for the Pismo run next month?

Awesome runner! It's crazy what someone with skill can do to an old car! Do you make bumpers like that for 2nd gen runners?
