I felt the same way last year at the Jamboree. Didn't expect to run into my friends Roy and Shawna, and spent a lot of time hanging out with them. Really looking forward to hanging out around the campfire again this year, with Lance, Chris, and all the other regulars. We'll be staying at a Hotel this time around, since the baby will only be 7 months old.

As for the parts truck, I'd love to get it out of my garage. I just haven't put the time into getting the last of what I need off of it. If you have the ability to haul it off, I'll make you a good deal on what's left.

I got the CanBack today! The guy I got it from was very cool, and glad it went to someone who appreciates the top for what it is. He still has his 1st gen, but wasn't going to use the soft top any longer, so I lucked out. The top is in good shape, but I'm going to buy the Renovo kit to clean and protect it. Pics...

I still need to install the snaps on the tailgate, tomorrow. I cleaned all the old two sided foam off, reapplied new foam, and painted the strip OD green. I feel very lucky to have gotten such a nice CanBack, for a great deal.

DANG, Adam! That looks fantastic! I've been lookin down here, ..... NEVER see them, and when I do, it's always a 'store' or some guy who wants 50$ less than new, ya know? VERY cool!

PS> Looking more and more like an Army Rig! lol

I was always on the lookout for a soft top too. When I'd finally come across one, it would sell almost immediately, and I was always short on funds. I'd find them for $500 to $1000. When swimmerboy got his for dirt cheap, at a yard sale no less, I was amazed! I got almost as good a deal as he did.

As far as the Army Rig goes, I was just thinking of changing the color, but I like it way too much with the new top.

More to come...

Today, I adjusted the timing to 8* BTDC, to see if I'll gain any noticeable power. I've had it set at 5* since the engine build. I also removed the material portion of my CanBack so I can get some minor repairs done, and the nylon strapping replaced. I should have it back on within the next couple days.

A couple weeks ago, I switched my front marker lights and turn signals. I used 921 bulbs in the corners, for blinkers, and the same LED's on my grill for my marker lights. I like the look better, and I was able to get rid of the load equalizers on the LED's. The wiring is much cleaner without them.

Otherwise, the 4Runner is running great. I can't wait to get some time for wheeling. It's been too long.

WOOT! Glad to see ya posting! haha... LOVED having the Cruise Control on that trip, Adam,.... and THANK YOU, sir, because I'd not have had it if you'd not helped me out like you did

PICS of that stuff? I'm really entertaining a similar front bumper, ... so just need to look into stuff like what you and others have done on the lights stuff. I'm sure there's LOTS on it here and elsewhere.... Just checking, haha.

Thanks again, Adam... appreciated!

Thanks, Mark. I really like having the bumper up front. I don't have to worry about deer running in front of me, or idiots smashing into me while parked at the mall (that one's for you Dave, ), and having the winch is good, just in case. Here are some pics of the lights...

Turn signal lit up...

And, my LED dome light, for fun...

Too soon to tell, on the increase in power. I haven't driven it too much since adjusting the timing. I'm planning a trip to a friends' cabin, with wheeling and fishing, later this month. You're welcome to tag along if you have the time. Otherwise, there's always Pismo!

Thanks! It's been a lot of fun so far. I really want to start working on the suspension, but I have to force myself to be patient. Other priorities in life, you know...

Now that I've put some time behind the wheel, I can say the timing definitely made some improvement in top end power. I'm pleased with the way this motor is performing. Glad to have taken the time to do it right.

In other news...

My wife surprised me the other day, with an old Craftsman tool box that she painted to match my 4Runner. It will go nicely with the trailer I'm building...

Thanks sweetie!

Wow, what a COOL WIFEY!

Are those roundeyes? AND, lol.... what dome is that? Obviously LED, but I had one(a cheaper one from a parts store) and it didn't light up a wide range of area... just like a flashlight ........does that one light up the whole cab? I was thinking of the wide angle festoon from autoillumination(?) or whatever those guys are.... (oznium?) HELP! haha.

BTW, you don't happen to have a working dome light fixture, laying around, do ya? hahaha.... Mine works, but the stupid design, plastic lever broke off.... I'ma superglue it for now, but want to find one, and NEVER find em in the pick-your-parts...they're always removed.

Yah, I want that bumper, but with a small stinger, like my grill guard has right now(level with mid-grill?).... Do they do that? I like those kinda interesting angled light cover versions too(trapezoidal kinda?) .... mine is like this....

Chef, they still have dome light covers at Toyota, and the plastic isn't old and dried out..
