More progress on the 4Runner today. It's running excellent since the wiring snafu. I got the battery/intake swapped this afternoon. I'll be making some changes to the setup when I get a new Optima Yellow top and TG battery box. For now, I've got the coolant overflow tank on the passenger side, but that will change. It's just too tight with everything over there. I didn't want to get too crazy modifying to fit the current battery, since the Optima will be smaller, and I'll be fabbing mounts for the battery box when I get it. I'll make room over there for the overflow tank to return to it's original position.
I also added a cutoff switch for my winch...
Pretty tight fit for now. I've got some plans for an air box and possibly a snorkel, down the road.

thanks for the invite, I dont think i can make it though. I am doing the scout camp all week the week before that. sounds like fun though. my rig is basically stock open diffs no lift. so i dont know what kind of wheeling i can do with it. but i guess if i went with a group it would be better so when i get stuck cause i know i will.

Thanks man! It will be an ongoing project 'til I get it the way I like it. So far so good though.
I've noticed much better power delivery with this mod. It accelerates smoother, and revs quicker. I think it's definitely worth the effort. Thanks for your input on the bumpers. They are holding up great, and still get a ton of compliments.

ok had to go back to this post here. I did not know they came in green but My orange one works great too one thing I have always hated about my runner was the low center console. So I fixed it yesterday. pretty cool stuff I think. today i added an arm rest by wrapping a light piece of pine with padding and vinyl. screwed it to the top. works very nice i am extremely happy with it. tomorrow I plan to make it camera friendly, just have to work out the bugs I have creates in my head with it.
This was a great idea

Today, I picked up these...
The guy at Trail Gear didn't know for sure if a Yellow Top would fit in their battery box, but as you can see, it fits just fine. I'm glad, because I really wanted the Yellow Top, and I like the design of the TG box. Score!
I'll be painting the box Thursday, and installing it if I have the time.

I got the battery installed today. Things went very smoothly. I had to mount the battery box 1.5" above the inner fender for it to fit correctly. Pretty easy to mock up with a short 2x4 . I got the overflow tank back where it belongs too.
I painted the box with the same caliper paint I used on the BudBuilt...
It's starting to look pretty colorful under the hood ...
A little less clutter on the passenger side...
With the Optima, the engine definitely cranks over better. I expected that, since I've had the same experience in the past with these batteries. I guess I can start working on the airbox next.

I put the bikini top on a couple weeks ago. I probably should have waited a couple more weeks, but I was ready for some open air driving. It rained the day after the top came off, and steadily the following week, but the water didn't seem to bother the Herculined floor. The front seats stayed nice and dry with the windows up, and the rears only got a little wet. It's all sunny and dry now!
Also, I got the first coat of black paint on the other day. I will be putting down a second coat of flat black, before I start with the graphics. This year, I decided to paint the 4Runner a two color camo. Hopefully it comes out as nice as I have it pictured in my head. I searched the net for something similar to what I'm thinking, but came up empty handed. So, it will either be original, or look like junk. We'll see....
