Don't pay "more" for the locked rig. Many sellers try to up sell and many 80 owners say ARBs are better than the elocker - stronger, faster, onboard air, etc. Look on iH8MUD for good buying guide. The brick red is a nice color.
How much they asking? PM services done, like head gasket and heater hose?

They're asking $3500 bucks for the red one w/ lockers.
Im also talking to a dude with a 96 w/ 170k miles, no lockers. and he wants $5500 obo. But I have a $4k budget. so we'll see.

Yeah they're pretty sweet.
I love that their not as big as a full size, but slightly smaller... I also love how big/safe they are. My only complaint. expensive expensive expensive. they're serious bread to build and I wont be surprised if i have 10k wrapped up in the thing in no time.
But im being patient... no one called me back, so im still searching for a rig. There's a green 94 on CL that has lockers as well... but honestly? I really want a 95+ with no lockers. that way i can do ARBs and onboard air at the same time.

They are gas inline 6's right? You should try and get a diesel engine from up here and swap that in. I think its a 4.2L turbo diesel inline 6 which probs has gobs of torque and mpg.
Are you going to lift it and 35's?

I saw one the other day, at Costco, THROATY as heck, pulling into the lot. I asked him, "Whatcha got in there, man?"... "1UZ, LOVE IT!"... So I guess anything is possible... and hey, that's 'GAS', right? hahaha... Actually, I think it's a good motor, my sister had a 98? It was VERY nice, Silver and Charcoal trim.. didn't have lots of pick up, but PLENTY of torque/pulling power when needed. I've even seen one of these with a Small Block V8 up in Mammoth...
Anyway; I think you're smart to hold off for a 95+

the 95+ is nice because of OBD2. but it doesn't have the 93-94 bus transmission. but it does have a 2nd gear start, which is kinda nice. not to mention it does have a better designed interior, and a bunch of other nice stuff.
Yeah i'll get around to it. I need to find a rig i truly like. right now im focused on the mustang. my shock tower reinforcements get here this week, and then Its pulling the motor, and brake related parts. getting the tower fixed. and then repaint the engine bay. haha

Looking at this right now:
http://www.hayesautos.com/inventory/...HN86R3V0101229
I like it, and it seems priced right with 128k original miles, a 5 speed and E-locker. but its a little above what i want to spend... Certainly like the white/black fender flare look too...

yeah it looks great, but i dont know if i wanna spend that much. and im extremely cautious about financing since interest is so crappy.
who knows... maybe i'll just keep waiting. thats a beautiful/perfect rig though.

I hear you there. I have my wife's car financed and that's it. I HATE loans man. I'll pay cash for everything I can.
That looks like an exceptionally clean rig! The only thing I can say about Hayes after buying that Tacoma there last year is make sure you look at the paint VERY closely. They had done some kind of cover-up on the rocker panels that chipped off the first time I took it through a car wash (which is what spurred my Herculiner thread). Other than that, they're no-haggle and pretty easy to deal with. My Tailpipe hanger broke about 3 weeks after I bought the truck and they paid for me to take it to the Muffler shop they use to have it fixed. No questions asked, just made a call and told me to take it over there.
I also took the pickup to a mechanic before I bought it - had it there about 2 hours and they had no problem with that either. They seem pretty up front, considering they are "used car salesmen"...
