If you are going to do all that engine work, Dont forget the PCV VALVE. save yourself needing to replace your valve covers / Cam seals twice!

Put these on the truck yesterday. they're the biggest light I can fit there without cutting or modding. So that works for me

not yet, I need to order my HID kit. I have a dremel, so that'll take care of that. we just need some epoxy/silicone.

the 4.88s are cool. they're nice for low end torque, but I still lose speed when going up a hill at freeway speeds... the 3.0 is such a dog. and yeah it will fit, but i had already bought a optima battery tray. so I just went with the red top.

Pismo is a blast man, you'll be all smiles out there.

its not until September :/ lol I wish it was closer but its still a few months away.

And yeah the mods have been coming along nicely, but I keep having to fix crap. right now its not driving right, the whole rig shakes, and has trouble shifting... definitely drivetrain related, and im hoping its just a U joint.

Shifting trouble with the shakes? Bummer... yeah, that's a REALLY ANNOYING one! lol. What are you thinking on the shifting issue? Mine has one only when the trans fluid is low in my 5spd.(different trans, I know, ...but>>)... when low, it pops out of 4th gear. Soon as I flush it on occasion and fill it up, .... much less popping out of 4th, lol. How is it giving you issues shifting? Hard going in gear?

well it started with hard shifting, and then after driving it around for two days, it shakes/vibrates now. I haven't checked on the driveshaft yet since its raining outside. lol

Quick Update:

The 4Runner's power loss was nothing related to a U joint, or rear end. It was the headgasket. The vibration and power loss I was experiencing was the 5th cylinder misfiring :/ Needless to say, I've gone over all my options of what I should do. And I believe I'm gonna be repairing the 3.0. Strictly because at this time in my life I cannot afford to let it sit. Combined with moving out, theres no way I could drop a couple G's into a 3.4 swap. At first I was a bit disappointed because I initially wanted the 3.0 to go atleast 200k before the headgasket blew, so it was a bit unexpecting at 157k. I even ran the decision of repairing it, and then selling it to buy an 89-95 22re ext cab and just swapping all my parts over. but I love the rig too much. It'll have a new top end, plus i recently just did the timing belt, water pump, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and everything else.

But yeah, I've already discussed this with a few members on here. I was just pretty pissed that the 3.0 gave up so early. Not to mention, my 21st birthday was yesterday ( may 18th ) and I couldn't do squat since I had no vehicle.

damn that sucks. make sure you check the block for etching. if u see any than you will need a new block as well. im still rocking the original HG at 224xxx miles. my 88 runner wasnt subject to the recall, guess i got the early ones that used the nicer Japanese HG that you cant get. i will be parking mine and doing a 3.4 swap if the motor ever goes

I dont have the time to do the repair myself. I'm having a local shop ( who my father has been going to for 8 ish years for company vehicles ) repair it. He'll also be warranting it for 3 years. but yeah man, it does suck. I cant even begin to describe how bummed I was. I always told myself I wouldn't repair that crappy excuse for an engine. but... it happens. it'll be good to go for another 300k

exactly what im thinking now. The only thing that can go wrong with this motor now is something related to the block! lol everything else has been serviced/replaced/checked.
