The ruffstuff page for the spring over axle kit isnt going through, so I'll have to call them and make my order. I took a few pictures last night and so far I've got the steering arms and calipers off. Had to take the woman out for her birthday.

I think it would be easier to put in the 83straightaxle you have, you already have the hi steer kit, alls you need is tubes, hanger, and springs. Doesn't the Fj axle run the leaves under the axle??I dunno a lot about the fj axle but I know its beefy but how much works it gonna take compared to the 83 axle??

Not much. I have to move the perches anyway. The kit has been ordered.

Dude I got a good laugh yesterday when it was raining pretty hard and seeing you drive off in your doorless runner wearing a big rain coat. Keepin it classy. Love it.

yea that sucked. i lost a garage door opener in the process somewhere on the way home.

my ruffstuff kit came in, so my plan is to get some scrap wood and build some type of table to hold the axle. ill cut off the perch on the passenger side and grind it clean. ill then make it level off the other perch and tack the new perch in place. then ill cut the other perch off and do the same thing. both sides will need to be moved in 3/8" to be set correctly for the 4runner leaf spring width. sounds so simple!

I need a circlip removal tool to get the hubs off to continue the tear down. Just taking the lock out off on one side I can tell the inner seal is bad, and that side looks 10x cleaner than the other side.

That is pain in the rear getting caught in the rain, one reason I want a soft top just for that reason. Buy a good snap ring pliers. Those cheap ones can be frustrating.

Ok so I got one knuckle off and I can't pull the axle out. I've tried turning the 3rd member around spinning the axle and pulling still can't get it. Any ideas?

From the pics it looks like u only took the hub off. U will need to take the spindle off as well and then the axle should come out. Here is a link to a website I used when I rebuilt my axle. I know it's not for a 60 but hopefully it's close enough to help u out. http://www.toyotaoffroad.com/Articles/Projects/Axle_Rebuild/Axle_Rebuild.htm

All of it is off, only 2 photos I took since it started getting greasy. Only thing left is the axle.
