JordanLawrence's 86 22re extra cab pickup build up thread
Hey guys. Like many others I've been fascinated with the back to the future truck since I first saw the movies; and last July I totaled my new Tacoma and decided to just buy an old yota and bttf it up! It's been a long process and I'll post up some pics! And yes, I know the bttf was a solid axle 85 so I am saving the SAS for last so stay tunes!
My friends mike and Rick are helping me with the tech stuff!
86 Toyota extra cab 22re sr5 rebuilt the engine
That's how I bought it minus the wheels, tires and decal
Next I had to find an old smitty bumper for the front. So Craigslist helped me there and I found one in valencia ca
My good friend helped me a lot and made these PVC pipe indicator light holders
Built tabs for the lights
Sanded the bumper down
Fixed some rust issues
Found a rear bumper in solidade ca and samded and painted it
Bought some knock off chrome lights sanded and painted em
Got some covers on eBay
Got the perfect roll bar sanded it down (I'm making the truck from number 3 when he is taunted by needles)
New (old stock) mirrors Mocked em up to se how they fit
Bought some wheels!
Sanded the truck partially with the DA
Body work
Took out back window because I bought a slider and we masked it up'
After the primer heres the first coats
And more plus cleared
Door jams!!
And other and painted
This ones already too big! As we do more ill post!!

Bought some black door handles since mine are chrome
Bought new corner lights
Previous owner tossed out the EFI badges so found some on eBay
Painted the front bumper (spray painted with rustoleom)
Had a chrome 3 tooth grille so I bought a black one on eBay along with new headlight bezels with the two tone black/chrome inner but the 3 tooth grilles emblems are stuck on so my friend somehow did his magic and got the TOYOTA emblem out with a knife
Here's a shot of the base coat clear coat bed prior to wet sand and polishing

Sick truck! I've always loved the old school off-road look and your truck does a pretty good job of it!
Also, do you happen to know where you can get the "TOYOTA" window banner/tint?

thanks a lot! We put a lot of sweat into this bttf Marty mcflymobile.
there isn't any orange peel at all! Wet sanded and polished. But there's some issues we need to address as it is the first week after being painted

Juat installed this split bench tonight. It looks pretty good! Ended up leaving my boots plastic casing from my center console still on and it really makes it look clean.
Me the wife and baby went to starbucks in it.
Also washed the rig!
