a big thank you to jimmy (4ever4running) for spending a day to help me with this. without him, i'd still be trying to modify the housing.
and a few notes:
-1 person can do the work by themselves, but 2 makes it go even faster
-the 3rd member is heavy, the axle housing is not
-get a welding blanket to put in the housing to collect the metal dust, shavings, weld splatter
-remove the axle. it's only a few more bolts, and it makes modifying the housing a lot easier
-to build up weld quickly, use a higher feed speed

nah, it's all right. yeah, all that's left: replace wheel bearings/seals, install locker, install axles, bleed brakes, drive!
[rant]
but it looks like my parts won't be here 'til tuesday. marlin crawler uses fedex "smartpost" which uses fedex freight for the long haul, then u.s.p.s. for residential deliveries. downside: 2 days longer. when i click "usps," i meant i want usps all the way. same for fedex. grr

Hey Ian, ....
I'm going to have some time, soon, to finish up my Fuse Box install... But curious; Need to figure out a mounting bracket that I can bolt to the fender or engine bay-wheel well(Like a U-shaped platform to mount the Marine fuse block to, to keep it UP a bit). I'll be driving by home depot today... Try to figure out a way to do it with a Jbox or something they have that would work, ya know? Has 4 mounting holes, then I can bolt it to whatever I find. Aluminum would be nice, but they don't offer many 'shapes' if you KWImean? lol.

mark, all i did was pick up some aluminum angle, 1" x 1" x 1/8", 10-32 screws, and locknuts. then i cut the channel how i needed it, and drilled it to join the pieces with the screws. i did the same sort of thing for my air intake v1.1. check out the pics, they should help out a bit

Yooop! lol... Appreciate it. I was just thinking, "Why can't I just piece a few cuts together after 'drill/bolt/lock nut' ", hehehe. Yeah, just looking at the stuff down there will spark something that will work, no doubt!
OH< and (PS>) lol.... >>> I am installing dual amps.... Do I need constant AND switched power for those? ....Or should I only be looking to use switched power? I'ma look it up too, just curious as I don't wanna waste time running wire from the fuse block if it CAN'T be constant, lol. Ya know? Been 12 years since I wired up an amp in my own rig..... 5 Since I helped a buddy and he did most of the work... I just fed wire and hooked up the stereo.
OHHHHH< and I also have a "SUBWOOFER" wire in my radio harness.... Is that for the ability to control 'level' from the deck(the deck says subwoofer-1-2-3- in the display).???
Sorry, I'll take this over there... Just hitting you up for some wiring guru-thoughts, lol.

Anxiously awaiting your install! Gonna be very nice to have that!

progress!
got the pumpkin in the axle housing and mostly bolted the assembly to the springs. tomorrow i will most likely have everything mounted except the actual axles.
pics
the connections. anyone know what the vacuum-tube looking hose is? it points straight up when installed.
it goes into the motor assembly

Can I ask you chose an E-locker and not an air? I know at the end of the day the air is WAY more expensive but is one better than the other? sorry if you answered that already but i'm just curious

That's a good point. I also read that modification was required for the 3.4 e-locker and I thought of it as a lot mor work than what you just did. I may have to consider an e now. What about response? How long does it take to activate after you flip the switch?
