i know, but $ome thing$ aren't nece$$ary. this is my daily driver, and i don't really need any 33 bfg at's right now. it already has 235's on it. my next mods will probably be some lights (on the brush guard and a light bar) along with the platform in the bed.
stay tuned!
well, it worked fine this morning. still, i think it's getting to be that time to replace stuff like that. thanks for the info!
and what "fit kit" do you have with your yakima rack? 16?

light bar: yes, if i had gutters. the yakima rack system looks like it'll grab the inside of the door frame, but i don't see much else
i might have to make a trip down to see it

maybe bigger tires if (a) i get a raise and (b) re-gear. i'm a bit more concerned with my mpg's than some people

You would DEFINITELY see and feel a difference with 31x10.50's, Ian, without having to sacrifice any real loss in gearing or noticeable mileage. Just my HO. I've gotten through to places with my 86 with a 2.5" lift and some other minor mods, that guys with bigger tires didn't really get to any easier.... and actually, when they had spacers, they would occasionally have to rub hard where I could just slip through, lol. YOU DO get more width with 12.50's, but many guys I know go with the 33x10.50x15(or 16's) and they LOVE them. All a matter of preference, and of course, aesthetics for some, sure.
PS> Can't WAIT to see your platform system in there! Gonna be cool!

Don't wanna start a HUGE side discussion, lol... But I gotta tell ya, Brian, ..that's totally personal preference. Actually, I could have gone with 35's this time, along with the necessary lift, etc.... and it's just NOT WORTH it to me, especially on a DD. Thought about the 33's, which I've had on 5 different trucks, ...but the lil bit of go-go and mileage I lost in the past, with minimal gain, other than aesthetically(yep, they dooooo look great! Agreed! lol)...it again just wasn't worth it.... FOR ME, PERSONALLY, of course. For a daily driver, in mine, that DOES see plenty of off road through 4 seasons... I just wanted to 'beef up' my suspension, redo the BJ's, add a LIL bit of height and not further increase the wear on the goodies under there with, then, an even bigger tire. And honestly, these 31's have seen nearly every place I've wanted to take them. With a rear locker and my BJ spacers, new OEM BJ's, HD Mega Travel upper BJ's, OME Shocks and Steering Stabilizer, few bushings, Idler Arm Brace, Hiemed Steering Junk Via a buddy, Zuks in the rear.... I'll get anywhere, within reason, that I want to go....and I'll save a lil gas and wear and tear, too, lol.
Sorry for the tangent, Ian,.... and I DON'T dislike 33's or even 39.5's, Brian, hahaha...it's totally a matter of preference, and you're GONNA USE THEM, so no dig intended(PLUS< you got the gears to slap in there, so it'll be NICE!). Just trying to explain that I understand Ian's POV.

yea mine is a daily driver to so i know what ya mean bout the mpg's. I just traded my 33x12.50's for some 31x10.50's, for that reason, i wanted a bigger tire but couldn't afford the lift right now and would kill me in gas. keep up the good work tho man

thanks guys! yeah, the next set of tires i look for will be more like the old bfg long trails. i still have one (the spare) and i love the tread. i was looking through my fuel log, and noticed a 2 mpg drop when i got the new bfg long trail-touring ones. i like how they handle, and they work great in sand and dirt, but 2 mpg drop?!? really?? >sigh< oh well, at the rate i'm driving, i'll need new rubber soon enough

ok, so its been a while since i've done much, so i decided to put on the "my-ride" system this weekend. i got most of the way through, i just have to feed the front two shocks.
the box
before:
what's inside:
the remote (smaller than i expected):
dial adjustment on right, pneumatic on left
first one installed:
adjustment knob removed:
compressor:
mounted in 4 spots (machine screws/hardware included):
i was surprised at the lack of grease on the gears. i grabbed some white lithium and solved that problem:
and the set-up under the hood:
almost done. just need to route the air lines for the front two shocks and i'm good to go, for now. i want to add a relay and tap off of an ignition line to keep the system off while the engine is off. but good enough for now
