Looks GREAT, Ian!

I'm curious to see the mileage gains/etc, as well.... I have the LCE with the pipe/02 further back.... Some pro's don't like that, saying it's not hot enough or an adequate reading of what's going on right out the ports like the stock mani is, .... but I just haven't dug any further(since my mileage isn't better w/it all--2.25, new CAT, Borla, 2.25 out the back, 02 set back further than stock)...... Just curious to see your results, that's all, not nay saying! lol.

Great update, Ian, very happy for ya(especially the extinction of the LEAKS!)

Yeah, that's a great idea!...........Now, ...............to find the time, hmmmmm! lol. Seriously, I would like to do this, as my Silvania Silverstar's are an improvement, already I bet the new wiring couldn't hurt. I'd like to do that for all the charging system as well.... I KNOW that long wiring kit from harness to alternator, etc., HAS to be a bit weathered after 25 years, right? lol.

Speaking of 25 years.... Can't believe CA did away with the Historical Vehicle thing(well, at least they keep moving it back, too far for me lol.

mark- the lack of leaks is what i actually like the best! haha

j.c.- thanks. from outside, it sounds stock. i still have stock exhaust, so it's not any louder or different.

in the future (maybe this summer), i'll be installing a magnaflow behind the cat, 2.25" all the way.

i'm posting here, as well as a new thread, to ask for some insight...

this is a case of the charge light not coming on. at all. all connections seem fine, alternator output is good with no issues, the bulb is fine. the truck starts and drives fine, but the charge light never comes on. my alternator swap did not cause this, as i've driven with it for a year, issue-free.

my setup:
-cs130 140amp gm alternator
-plug and play adapter

i know the light is supposed to come on. this was taken 26k ago:

so, anyone got any ideas?

Loose connection or tear in the circuit film behind the cluster?

Remove the bulb and inspect the metal contact patch on the back of the cluster and on the bulb. Maybe take a piece of scotch guard and clean the contact patches and try again.

low lying fruit....

have you tried disconnecting the alternator and running the rig...

I assume the charge light comes on because when you go to start, the connection to many other systems like the radio are open. Try to confirm that the charge light system still works..

trust me, i've tried everything on the backside of the cluster. i swapped bulbs with the brake light (both of them work), put it in both ways, scuffed up the points, checked the socket and plug connections, traced the paths, etc...

'tis bad practice. the alternator needs a reference voltage to be able to run correctly. without the battery, there is none other than the alternator itself. if the alternator puts out anything higher than what is regulated, the voltage will climb out of control (frying anything in it's path)

as i understand it, the light comes on because the alternator is not charging (the motor, and therefore the alternator, is not spinning). if you were to spin just the alternator by itself, the light would go out (it would be charging at that point). this is all assuming the key is in the run position.

not quite sure i follow you on how to "confirm that the charge light system still works"...

Loose wire in the cluster harness going to the pin?

See it all the time in these welders at work.
