ok, so here's my thoughts/observations while driving:
--the trail-gear mount does indeed make the truck shake. it's more like a soft vibration, but nothing you can't live with
--the clutch has less "play", meaning it's (almost) either engaged/disengaged, but it grabs better than a band-aid on leg hair
--when i said it grabs, it also grabs while downshifting. that means i'll have to adjust my driving style a bit to compensate
--the shifter seats are very nice, a much-needed improvement. even if you don't need a clutch, i suggest you get them done. they're easy to do
and i need a new camera, stat! i find i need 2 hands to drive, so holding my phone isn't an option. but, there really isn't anything too drastically different than before; just the clutch and trans mount.
now to clean up my mess...

yeah, it's a li'l grippy. i'll see how it is in a week or so and report back.
one thing i forgot to mention: i have not spun the wheels. i'm probably not doing it right, but i don't want to break anything, so i stopped trying.
sliders will be my next endeavor... as the tube steps are off (and now for sale!)
in the words of my mom- "now how am i supposed to get in?"

Gotta love these.... I use it, often, to get my Step-Father or Mom up into my truck when they need a ride.... Folds down to NOTHING, and holds up to 300#.... and I'm over 200 and can jump up and down on it! lol. >>>>>>>>>

the actual replacing of the clutch and rear main were easy. the 2 hardest parts, in order:
-removing the trans
-installing the trans
the pilot bearing on my truck was stuck, maybe even seized. i rented a pilot bearing puller from advance auto ($30 to take out, $30 back when i returned it). the puller made things go easily, as in i spent 3 hours with the water/paper method, and 30 mins with the puller. get the tool. it's a free loaner and it works.
and i have more hints and tips, so i'll post them up later. now to drive to work and let y'all know how it feels today! (i just want to drive the thing some more )

just damp and foggy over here. nothing too bad.
and trip report so far today: the clutch seems to be breaking in. it's a bit softer than my test drive, but not much. i like the way it grips. it feels like learning to drive stick all over again, haha.
the shifter seats are well worth it. extremely easy to install, whether the trans is in or out of the truck. getting it into and out of gear are smooth, there's no catching. also, there is very little play in the stick at neutral, and it vibrates less
and i might just leave the crack in the exhaust, haha. it doesn't sound too much like a leak, and it seems to give a bit more "umph" up hills. whatever... i'm getting headers at some point anyway. sliders first.

Yeah, .... the PRICE aint bad, either, eh? lol..... I think I'm grabbing those, just have to save a bit and find a buddy to help me weld em on, ya know?
Cool, Ian,...that is going to be an even nicer truck with the sliders and 31's! As they say, "It's all coming together"...... What they don't tell you is "it's ALWAYS more expensive than you THINK it will be, once you get started!" lol.

I may have to consider doing the shifter seats in my truck... the stick is getting a little sloppy feeling... not surprising it has 395k on it... have to wait until I have a place to work or warmer weather though...
