I had a trans with that type of seat decomposion. When you put the new seats in it will be like a new trans. Not really, but it will shift much better.

Brandon, hahaha...

Pulled the slave off, I'm sure.... Hmmmm, seems normal to me, as with most oldER motors, the trans input shaft get's REALLY tight inside the pilot bearing as it's trying to come all the way out. When pulling the motor from above, it's MUCH more cooperative, ya know? You're able to wiggle and such until it 'gives'. Maybe push it back up as high as you can(closest to where it was) and then try yoinking toward the rear.

Maybe carefully work the trans back and forth from side to side and up and down, even in a circular motion(carefully of course, I said that, right? lol).... You'll get it, Ian!

And this works for Jerry, so why not you. Don't make me come down there.

YES, bone head moves, first, then learn, then no more bone head moves, GOT IT! lol.

Yeah, that thing is freakin heavy/even empty, due to it's odd angles/lack of leverage, eh? And YES, HELPING HANDS would have it out in 10 minutes... SUX not having a next door neighbor that LOVES coming over to help, rain or shine, right??? lol.

I had forgotten one of the bell housing mounting bolts... I think it was the one just south/diagonally from those top ones that are a bit tighter to get to. Of course, I don't think you'd have it even 1/2" out if you'd left one in.... UNLESS of course it's MOSTLY backed out and just not, OUT-OUT, just yet, hahaha. I know, I know, .... you've checked that 5 times.... not being insulting, just saying, 'it happens'.

Put a jack under the transfer case and jack it there, up a little...down a little, repeat and wiggle while supported. You'll get it, take your time, double check for any hang-ups.

good luck

at this point, if you point out something that might be obvious, it might help.

there were the 2 friggin 17mm at the top (got to them through the tunnel/shifter opening), and a few at the bottom, both 17mm and 14mm. there was one on the other side of the bellhousing, below the starter. the starter is off (one bolt and one stud that came out with the nut). slave cyl is off, the exhaust bracket is off, all wires are disconnected, driveshafts disconnected. i even put tension (not force) on the thing with a beefy ratchet strap. nothing.

i'm done for tonight. i have places to go and people to see.

if anyone has any suggestions, please share. i've spent 4 hours with 1/2" of progress
