Useful link ian.
Just read thru all 43 pages here... wild... did you abandon the original alternating signal flashers idea when you switched to the duals? or just not bother with the original concept?...
love those IO540s great eng. to work on [specially on navajos] everything [on the eng. anyway] is easy to get at... if you ever see a conti. io520 [on a c421] you'll be looking to murder someone... miserable pita design...
that choke sensor set up is to activate the two leds to tell you when low/high fan are on right? would it be much more complex to rig a single dual colour led? like green for low/red for high? Great thread...

other than that, yeah. it was a nice easy engine to work with
yes, it's easily possible to use a bi-colored led
thanks!

what about the bearing gave you grief? only thing up front that ever vexed me was the shaft seal on one specific eng....
your original concept was wig wag flashers... now they seem to be simultaneous flashers...
all the circuit designs I've seen seem to be wig wag when running lights are off and simultaneous when running lights are on... I'd like to find a circuit design that is consistantly wig wag...

the front bearing has to be put on 90 degrees to the crankshaft split, and positioned to match up perfectly with the oil passages. it's a pain when the previous classes just put it on any old way, and it doesn't want to stay in place. grrr...
and the camshaft not staying in place, too. yeah...
anyway, the original wig-wag only worked if the parking lights were on. to make the circuit i have wig-wag, i would need to run a separate positive to the parking lights so they can turn on even with parking lights set to "off".
i guess i'm just lazy? haha

no, just a single relay to reverse the signal from the turn signal. if it's off, turn on. if it's on, turn off.
aka:
but only just after the turn signal has been activated. simple circuit, but just one more thing to do.

So it would be two dif. circuits then one for with the running lights on and one for with the running lights off?

my "black friday" purchase: a box full of goodies! ball-joint spacers and a diff-drop! woo!
note: this was to make the truck sit at it's current height while relaxing the torsion bars. took it for a test drive, and it's sooooo much smoother now. i was at +6 cranks, which wasn't too bad, but it was bumpy. now i'm back at 0 cranks, and it feels like a caddy. now to do something about those aal's...
enough useless banter, on to the pics!
box of goodies!
before: 235/75r15's, 15x6 steelies, +6 t-bar crank.
after: +6 t-bar crank, 1.5" bj spacers
(and so you don't have to scroll: )
(they're down to 0 cranks now, looks about the same as "before")
so that's what i did today. well, this evening, anyway.

while my tires aren't worn-out, they are starting to lose their tread. i will have to get new ones soon enough, so not to worry there.
i'm going to try and get aligned soon. from the front, the wheels look like \--/ (not that bad, but noticeable)
and that's it for now...

Looking good Ian...
Wanted to suggest something... if you're going to go capless now you want to think about getting a tonneau cover of somekind to go between the toolbox and tailgate... to keep junk/wet out of the bed and rotting it and to help the mpg... with that tailgate acting like a dam it is going to kill your mpg...

thanks guys
canadian pilot: i've been thinking about it. i need to look at what's out there for beds with a tool box. my dad has a hard bi-fold one (alum-foam-alum) which works great. it's survived hurricanes and a basketball hoop falling on it. i like the look and weight of the cloth ones. don't know yet, but you got me thinking. maybe after x-mas...
oh, and on a side note, with the front of the truck lifted the way it is, it feels great when driving. i can see over everything; i finally get the whole "lift-it-more" thing, haha.
