Cali has the best weather, Oregon has the best looking beaches, Washington has the best Smog laws and the most diverse climate and also the worlds longest beach drive.

i might have to make a road trip out there with the camper sometime...

speaking of the e-inn (my trailer), i found a guy willing to weld it up for ~$100. now i just need to finish cutting the tubes (just the end ones, everything else is fine)

got my dcc fan controller yesterday.

today: built a magneto out of spare parts in class. we'll see if it works tomorrow.

also, i was fixing my passenger blinker bulb (just loose). apparently, i forgot to mount the housing back on the vehicle, so it was hanging on my brush guard and it's wires the entire 35 miles home. whoops...

and i had an idea for a road trip: the truck, pulling the trailer, camping at off-road parks. but, i would meet up with others from yotatech for a day or two to go wheeling with. then i pack it up and go to the next state/park, and wheel with another member. i think that'd be fun

Way too many people on the west coast? Cali, yes. But when I lived in NY it seemed liked the east coast had some population density issues toO.

The 'E-Inn' for the trailer? Cool.
Glad your light didn't fall off,

haha, sure thing. i won't be doing it anytime soon, but i'll make a list. it looks like i'd spend a good deal of time on the west coast, seeing as that's where a lot of you all reside (and soon to be "south california")

Ian, ..... the "Cali's too crowded" topic comes up, often.... but usually by people who've only visited L.A. MUCH of CA is still pretty sparse. Even on the coasts, there are many spots that you could not see someone all day.(People tend to draw to other people, that's all. But yes, L.A. beaches? They can become very crowded).

I've seen VA and it's VERY green and very beautiful. Been over most of Texas, Miss., Missouri, Georgia, Florida, OR and WA, many more states, and then Mexico as well(NO THANKS! Not for now, anyhow)..... gotta say, CALI, ASIDE FROM THE BUREAUCRACY, has my vote for most versatile state(most to do, etc.) I can and have snow ski'd in the morning, then met people to jet ski and water ski by 'early' lunch time, then hiked a bit in the Angeles Crest and was back to surf by 4PM..... And, Ian, the Sierras, Sequoias? HOLY CRAPOLI ..... SERIOUSLY, Ian, ..... Majestic, they really are. Even more "FUN" are they, to become LOST in, hahaha. Oh, and the Giant Redwoods?>>, even up to the Coast like where 'Spearo' lives. Not to mention the Hot Springs by the hundreds, all over the state! If you came with that Coleman, .... I would LOVE to be a part of throwing in ideas for your trip out here, brudda! You'd NEVER wanna leave..... UNTIL the "MAN" pulled up and said, "You've been here for over a month in this spot, the law is 14 days, and since you are out of state plates, you might have to comply with section blah blah, and wait, what kind of CAT is that?.....>OOH, and .... "...... AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! hahahahaa, JK, ....and Trust me, far as a visit? IT'S WORTH IT for guys like us who LOVE the Wilderness, the Coasts and EVEN THE DESERTS!(lots o hotsprings! lol)

i won't be working too much on the rig in the next couple of weeks. i'll be working on my trailer, and when i'm not doing that, it's installing a timing belt. my dad's elantra needs a new one, and he's hiring me to do the work on it (since he knows i can do that kind of thing now). so i'll be working on that for the next weekend plus a day or two. should go much easier than my chain, since i won't have to drain anything.

Best wishes on that Hyundai! I did a Camry belt in 4hours, my daughters wagon. I'm sure this newer car has a lot more on it, but you'll get it no problem. Good idea to give yourself a lil extra time! KILL IT! lol.

So do you have any experience with changing out the timing belt, water pump, etc. in a 3rd generation 4Runner? If so, I may wait to do mine and commission your help after I move up to the D.C. area...

hey ian,

two quick questions: a) can you explain the no-kickback diode in your 'aux-box' and b) what are your plans for the center console?

i have a 4runner console waiting to be installed between the buckets i put into my truck (also from a 4runner, see my sig) and i wanted to set it up so that my CB set up was hidden inside the console but i'm still working out the details.
